Hartley's workout comes after Giants kicker Josh Brown was recently handed a one-game suspension and backup Tom Obarski missed a 28-yard field goal attempt in New York's preseason game over the weekend. With coach Ben McAdoo looking to increase competition at the position, a group of kickers has been brought in to work out for the Giants to start this week, and Hartley could conceivably receive a contract offer if he impresses the team.
The Steelers made a slew of roster moves Monday, including placing offensive tackle Mike Adams on the PUP list to begin the season.
Pittsburgh also placed cornerback Senquez Golson and kicker Garrett Hartley on injured reserve, which means both players will miss the 2015 season.

The Browns announced Monday that they have waived kicker Garrett Hartley, along with wide receiver Phil Bates, defensive lineman Christian Tupou and defensive back Varmah Sonie, per the Akron Beacon Journal.
Hartley was signed by the Browns prior to Week 15 last season and was 3-for-3 in his only field goal attempts. Prior to that, he played for six seasons with the Saints.
