King would likely have been waived by the Chiefs anyway, and the Titans likely won't lose anything if King doesn't make the team, so this move makes sense for both sides.
King (ankle) recorded three tackles and one sack in Friday's preseason game against the 49ers.
King had been dealing with an ankle injury but appears to be healthy based on his latest game performance. The former Oklahoma Sooner is competing with Maurice Swain and Tanoh Kpassagnon (shin) to back up starter Allen Bailey.
King injured his ankle Saturday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
The details of King's injury aren't clear. The longer he's out, the less chance he likely has of making the roster.
The Chiefs activated linebacker Justin March from injured reserve Friday and evidently needed King's roster spot in order to do so. If King clears waivers, he'll more than likely end up on the Chiefs' practice squad.
King was waived by the Chiefs in November, but subsequently cleared waivers and landed on the team's practice squad. However, he has been promoted back to the active roster due to veteran linebacker Derrick Johnson being placed on injured reserve.
