Blount broke off several productive runs throughout the course of the contest, but none bigger than his 21-yard scoring scamper in the second quarter that gave the Eagles a 15-3 lead at the time. The veteran had played a minimal role in Philadelphia's first two postseason wins, gaining a modest 40 yards combined in victories of the Falcons and Vikings. However, as he did Sunday, he'd scored once in each of those contests, and the rushing yardage he mustered against the Patriots served as a game-high total. Having played in 2017 on a one-year, $1.25 million dollar deal, Blount is slated to be an unrestricted free agent at the start of the league year. Despite his strong finish, it's conceivable that the Eagles could opt to move forward with a stable of younger backs that includes mid-season acquisition Jay Ajayi and impressive rookie Corey Clement.
Blount carried nine times for 37 yards and caught his only additional target for 11 yards during Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Cowboys.
With Jay Ajayi sidelined, Blount led the team in rushing and received his largest allotment of carries since Week 12. He averaged a respectable 4.1 yards per carry, but he didn't have much opportunity to thrive in what was a miserable offensive display from both sides. It is a positive sign that Blount stepped up his performance in the season finale, but the team's decision to rest Ajayi likely offers a glimpse into how they view the usage of the two backs with a home divisional round game coming up in two weeks.
Blount rushed seven times for 21 yards in Sunday's 34-29 win over the Giants.
Three of his carries came with the Eagles in clock-killing mode on their final drive, forcing the Giants to burn all of their timeouts. It marked the third straight game Blount was on the field for 17 or fewer snaps and saw nine or fewer touches. After failing to produce in successive plus matchups, the 31-year-old cannot be trusted for fantasy purposes in Week 16 against Oakland.
Blount ran seven times for just 12 yards and caught both passes directed his way for 11 more yards during Sunday's 43-35 win against the Rams.
The contest marked the second straight game in which Blount was only on the field for 15 or fewer snaps, and this time it was far fewer than the 27 seen by Corey Clement or 43 for Jay Ajayi. Seven of Blount's touches came in the first half, but in the second half, Philadelphia turned primarily to Ajayi, who was far more effective with the ball. It will be tough to rely on Blount for fantasy production in spite of another favorable matchup Week 15 against the Giants.
Blount only logged 14 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Seahawks, taking eight carries for 26 yards.
With the Eagles playing from behind for most of the night, Jay Ajayi (31 snaps) and Corey Clement (28) both dwarfed Blount in terms of playing time. It partially seemed to be a product of the Eagles seeking to expand Ajayi's role, but the bigger factor was game context in combination with Blount's lack of pass-catching/blocking skill. The 250-pounder could still have some busy afternoon when the Eagles are able to mount leads, but a Week 14 road game against the Rams isn't exactly a prime bounce-back spot. The workload split still needs to be monitored on a weekly basis in this three-headed Philadelphia backfield.
