Rodgers rushed 19 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-7 win over the Bears.
Although he averaged just 3.5 yards per tote, Rodgers fulfilled his role as the lead back admirably, grinding out yardage against a tough Bears front seven while also notching a one-yard touchdown run midway through the second period. Due to the Bucs' opener having been postponed on account of Hurricane Irma, the suspended Doug Martin's return won't transpire until Week 5, affording Rodgers lead-back duties for two more games in tough matchups versus the Vikings and Giants. However, given his knowledge of head coach Dirk Koetter's offense and demonstrated ability to handle a significant workload, Rodgers carries solid fantasy potential on sheer projected volume alone for the time being.
The two teams are scheduled to make up the contest Nov. 19 in Week 11 of the regular season, meaning both the Buccaneers and Dolphins will play 16 consecutive weeks to conclude the campaign. The postponement also means that Rodgers will likely hold down his role as the Bucs' lead tailback at least until Week 5 against the Patriots, when Doug Martin is scheduled to return from his suspension. Martin had initially been eligible to play in Week 4 against the Giants -- when he would have served the final three games of his ban -- but the rescheduled contest ended up pushing back his return date.
Rodgers rushed 10 times for 34 yards and brought in his lone target for 17 yards in Saturday's 13-9 preseason loss to the Browns.
Rodgers paced the Bucs backfield in both carries and yards, with head coach Dirk Koetter seemingly looking to get him ready for a lead back role to open the season while Doug Martin serves out his suspension. Rodgers came in eager for what he anticipated would be a larger workload Saturday and will look to duplicate his productive multi-week run as a starter from last season in the first three games of 2017.
Rodgers carried three times for four yards and secured his sole target for two yards in Thursday's 12-8 preseason win over the Jaguars.
Rodgers saw 16 snaps in the contest, but he couldn't get anything going on the ground on his three rushing touches. While his playing time compared favorably with that of Doug Martin (16 snaps) and Charles Sims (13 snaps), Rodgers saw both players outpace him in rushing yardage, although the latter did so by only two yards. Rodgers is still projected to garner at least a slim majority of the work on first and second down while Martin serves out his suspension over the first three games of the season, but Jeremy McNichols (11 rushes, 32 yards) and even Peyton Barber (nine rushes, 42 yards) could push him for snaps if they continue trending upward as well.
Rodgers rushed four times for 11 yards and secured his only target for five yards in Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Bengals.
Rodgers took over for Doug Martin after the opening possession and ended up matching the latter's carries and yards. He also had modest involvement in the passing game before exiting and looked as solid as he has during camp practices overall. While the Bucs have publicly stated they're likely to go with a committee approach during the season's first three weeks while Martin finishes out his suspension, Rodgers' skill set likely lends itself to garnering the most carries in that type of scenario.
