Rambo accepted a defensive graduate assistant position at the University of Georgia, likely ending his playing career, Marc Weiszer of Athens Banner-Herald reports.
Rambo spent four seasons in the NFL between Washington, Buffalo and Miami. The Georgia alumnus produced 104 tackles and nine pass breakups in his final two pro seasons, but injuries to his hip, hamstring and knee held him back from a longer career.
Rambo (hip) was released Tuesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Rambo was brought back into the team's fold in late July, but didn't really shine enough to move him up the safety chart, one that offered some opportunity behind the two starters. Assuming the hip injury is minor, he'll look for a new team in the pre-Week 1 scramble that lies ahead.
Rambo did not practice Sunday due to a hip injury, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.
Rambo played 26 defensive snaps Saturday but was given off Sunday due to a hip issue. The team doesn't appear to be greatly concerned with the injury, so neither are we at the moment. How he progresses over the next few days should provide us with a clear timeline for his expected return.
Rambo has a hamstring injury and will not play in Thursday's second preseason game, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.
Rambo is on his second tour of duty with the Bills, but he's currently slotted for a depth/special teams role and not much more.

Rambo returns to Buffalo for another tour with the team with which he also spent parts of the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Rambo enters his fourth season in the league after a 2015 campaign with the Bills in which he appeared in 15 games and racked up 58 tackles (44 solo), one sack, one interception, six passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. He figures to serve as Walt Aikens' backup at strong safety.
Rambo (knee) is active Sunday against the Jets.
Rambo has had a few games this season with at least seven tackles, though he usually doesn't get up to that level and is a fairly weak fantasy IDP option.
Rambo (knee) practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's finale against the Jets.
While the Bills will miss the playoffs for the 16th straight season - gasp - they'll try to end the season on a strong note by drawing last blood on the Jets and their playoff chances.
Rambo (knee) did not practice Wednesday, ESPN.com reports.
Rambo has been working through the knee issue for most of December. He missed practice last Wednesday and still played against the Cowboys, where he saw action on 58 defensive snaps and logged three tackles. Rambo is seeing starter's time amid all the injuries to the Buffalo safety unit, though Corey Graham is the guy you want to own if you have the choice.
Rambo (knee) is active Sunday against the Cowboys.
After putting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, Rambo will be in the lineup at free safety. He's only seen more than 60 snaps twice since Week 4, and on the season, he's recorded 52 tackles to go with a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Rambo (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Dallas after practicing on a limited basis for the second straight day Friday.
With Leodis McKelvin being needed at corner again and Aaron Williams now officially out for the season, Rambo is expected to see starting duty at safety this week against Kellen Moore and the Cowboys.
Rambo (knee) did not take part in Wednesday's practice.
Rambo continues to get starter's time even while working through the knee issue, but at this point it's just a matter of trying to get through the team's final two weeks. Over the last five games, Rambo has seen more than 50 plays each game, while totaling 30 tackles over that span.
Rambo (knee) is active Sunday against Washington.
Rambo was limited in practice Friday, but with the Bills missing so many players on the defensive side due to injuries, he will likely get a full complement of snaps. He comes in with 13 tackles, including a sack, in his last two games.
Rambo (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Washington.
Rambo did practice on a limited basis Friday. If he's able to play come Sunday, he'll receive starter's time at safety with so many other defensive players banged up.
Rambo (knee) is active Sunday against the Texans.
Rambo didn't practice Wednesday, but put in a limited session Thursday before practicing in full on Friday. He'll be in the lineup at strong safety and will look to slow down the Texans rushing attack. However, he's only recorded more than three tackles in a game just once since Week 3.
Rambo, who suffered a knee injury during Sunday's loss in Kansas City, is probable for Sunday's game against the Texans after practicing fully Friday.

Rambo did not practice Wednesday after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.
Rambo has become a nice depth guy who occasionally makes a big play. With Aaron Williams still being out for at least few more weeks, the Buffalo safety crew would take a bit of a blow if Rambo isn't able to take the 50 or so defensive snaps he's been seeing the last couple of weeks.
Rambo (shoulder) is active Sunday against the Chiefs.
Despite being forced from the game last Monday, Rambo put in three limited practices this week and will be in the lineup at strong safety. He'll provide a boost as the Bills look to slow down Spencer Ware and the Chiefs rushing attack.

Though Rambo (shoulder) was forced out of this past Monday's loss to the Patriots with a left shoulder injury, he was able to record a season-high eight tackles prior to his exit, lifting his overall mark to 34 stops in nine games, to go along with two forced fumbles and a pick.
Rambo (shoulder) was limited at practice Wednesday.
Rambo injured his shoulder during Monday's loss to the Patriots, but his availability at practice Wednesday has to be viewed as a good sign for IDP owners. We'll check back on his game-time status as the week progresses, but as of now it seems as if the 25-year-old safety could make an appearance in Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
