Although Hurst's tenure with Tennessee has been mostly filled with promotions and demotions, there's something to be said about the Titans' affinity toward him given their reluctance to fully let go. It's unlikely he'll have any major impact next season, if he's on the roster at all, but he could challenge his peers for a spot as a reserve option in the secondary.
Hurst was waived by the Titans on Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Hurst, who was signed last week, was waived in order to make room for running back Khalfani Muhammad, who was promoted from the practice squad.
With cornerback LeShaun Sims (hamstring) being placed on injured reserve Friday, the Titans will bring back Hurst to add some depth to the secondary. Hurst spent the preseason with Tennessee before being released at the start of the regular season.
Hurst (groin) was cleared from the injury report Wednesday.
Hurst will now look to fight his way to a roster spot through the practice squad.
Hurst is nursing a groin injury and will be evaluated Monday, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone reports.
Hurst's groin ailment will need medical attention but the severity is still unknown. The injury could spell bad news for Hurst who is fighting for a roster spot. If he can't make back for the team's remaining preseason games he could find himself on the outside looking in.
