by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Williams signed a contract with the Rams on Wednesday, ESPN reports.

Williams was with the Rams earlier this season prior to his stint in San Diego. It isn't clear whether he'll slot into defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' defense off the bat.

Steve Williams: Waived by Chargers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Williams was released by the Chargers earlier in the season but was brought back by the team a little over a month ago. The cornerback has seen his defensive reps drop off in recent weeks with Brandon Flowers and Casey Hayward solidifying their roles as the team's starters.

Chargers' Steve Williams: Picks up seven tackles in season debut
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Williams finished with seven tackles and one pass defended in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.

Forced into action after injuries to Jason Verrett (knee) and Brandon Flowers (concussion), Williams and the rest of the beleaguered secondary held up about as well as you can expect. The 25-year-old likely shouldn't be a target for IDP owners unless he can lock down a starting role.

Chargers' Steve Williams: Heads back to San Diego
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams signed with the Chargers on Wednesday.

San Diego's fifth-round selection in 2013, Williams was eventually released just one day into the 2016 season before serving a short stint with the Rams. Now back with the Bolts, the diminutive cornerback will try to pick up where he left off at the end of last season when he accounted for turnovers on three straight possessions against the Broncos in Week 17.

Steve Williams: Released by Rams
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams was released by the Rams on Saturday, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reports.

Williams' release allowed for the Rams to promote fellow defensive back Isaiah Johnson from their practice squad. Williams hadn't yet appeared in a regular season game this season, but recorded 19 tackles (17 solo), one sack, five passes defensed, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 2015.
