Miller rushed 18 times for 61 yards and secured all three targets for 26 yards in Thursday's 13-9 win over the Bengals.
With rookie DeShaun Watson starting his first NFL game, the plan clearly called for a heavy emphasis on the ground attack. Miller and rookie D'Onta Foreman thus entered halftime with eight rushing touches apiece, but Miller pulled away in the second half. His post-intermission efforts included a key 19-yard scamper on the Texans' final scoring drive, a 13-play march that culminated in a Ka'imi Fairbairn field goal. Despite a serviceable final line, Miller did find tough sledding on the ground overall, totaling just 42 yards in his 17 other totes. However, if Watson continues to develop as a passer as expected, that dimension, coupled with the threat he poses with his legs, should allow Miller to face some beatable seven-man fronts as the season unfolds. He'll look to build on Thursday's performance against the Patriots in Week 3.
Miller rushed 17 times for 65 yards and caught both of his targets for 31 more in Sunday's 29-7 Week 1 loss to the Jaguars.
Miller played well given the score and the awful quarterback play around him. Tom Savage and Deshaun Watson combined for just 164 yards with one touchdown and four turnovers, allowing Jacksonville to stack the box and corral Miller. The 26-year-old running back will suffer from a lack of scoring opportunities unless the Houston offense as a whole takes a dramatic step forward from here on out.
Miller rushed three times for 14 yards in Saturday's 13-0 preseason loss to the Saints.
Miller had a limited role in the contest and was fairly productive while on the field. The veteran back is slated to enter the season as the No. 1 tailback, with impressive rookie D'Onta Foreman possibly pushing him for some snaps as the season unfolds.
Miller rushed seven times for 18 yards in Saturday's 27-23 preseason win over the Patriots.
Miller saw five more carries than in last week's preseason opener, seeing limited running room once again. While the sixth-year pro's hold on the starting room appears secure for now, emerging third-round rookie D'Onta Foreman has made an impressive case for a solid allotment of playing time thus far this summer. Miller will look to make a statement of his own against the Saints next Saturday in Houston's third preseason contest.
Miller rushed twice for zero yards in Wednesday's preseason opener against the Panthers.
Miller only featured for Houston's first couple series, as was expected at this early stage in the campaign. While backup Alfred Blue scored on the night and rookie D'Onta Foreman fared quite well for himself afterward, Miller is clearly the Texans' top tailback at this stage and should get more work in the upcoming exhibition tilts.
