Bernard caught two passes for 30 yards and added two yards on two carries in Sunday's 20-16 win over Buffalo.
Bernard has now caught at least two passes in four consecutive weeks, though his two-game streak with a touchdown reception was snapped on Sunday. The shifty back's abilities in the passing game make him a little less susceptible to the emergence of rookie Joe Mixon than fellow veteran Jeremy Hill, but make no mistake: It's Mixon's time in Cincinnati, and any damage Bernard manages will be accomplished with limited opportunities. He has yet to top eight touches in a game this season.
Bernard carried three times for 12 yards while adding three receptions (on four targets) for 67 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-7 win over the Browns.
Bernard struggled for much of the afternoon but provided the biggest highlight of the game with a 61-yard touchdown reception just before the half. Despite the big play, it was another light day in terms of volume for the 25-year-old, who saw Joe Mixon take on 21 touches, including four receptions of his own. With passing-down duties slipping a bit, Bernard will need to make big plays a regularity if he's going to continue providing any sort of fantasy value.
Bernard doesn't have a designation in advance of Sunday's game at Cleveland.
Bernard was a limited participant both Wednesday and Thursday but practiced in full during Friday's session, the latter of which paved the way for active status in Week 4. While rookie Joe Mixon garnered more offensive snaps (34) than Bernard (13) and Jeremy Hill (14) combined this past Sunday against the Packers, Bernard still holds utility due to his pass-catching chops. On the season, Bernard has totaled 67 receiving yards on five receptions (eight targets), which has supplemented his 77 yards on the ground.
There's been no reported setbacks with Bernard's surgically-repaired knee, so there's a solid chance that his limitations Wednesday were maintenance-related. Bernard logged 13 snaps on offense (out of a possible 61) in Week 3's loss to Packers. In the process, the veteran change-of-pace back logged three carries for 27 yards and two catches for 12 yards and a touchdown.
Bernard had three carries for 27 yards along with two catches for 12 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Bernard was able to make an impact in the game despite getting only 13 snaps. One thing is clear - Joe Mixon is the main guy now, and it'll be Bernard and Jeremy Hill fighting for the leftovers.
