Justin Hunter: Healthy and auditioning
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (shoulder) has returned to full health and is preparing for a slew of team workouts, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Hunter reportedly intends to work out for Houston, New England, Washington, Baltimore and the Jets. The veteran wideout spent the last two seasons with the Steelers, during which time he appeared in 12 games and notched seven catches for 44 yards and one touchdown. He's a candidate to land a role on special teams.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Needs surgery for shoulder
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (shoulder) will undergo surgery in the near future to repair a torn labrum, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

The Steelers shuttled Hunter to injured reserve two days after he hurt his shoulder in the Week 13 loss to the Chargers, spelling an end to the wideout's season. Hunter should recovery from the procedure well before training camps get underway next summer, but he's not guaranteed to stick around with Pittsburgh since he'll become a free agent after the current season concludes. While playing on a pair of one-year contracts the past two seasons, Hunter has struggled to carve out much volume behind starting wideouts Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, drawing just 23 targets across 12 games.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Lands on IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (shoulder) has been placed on IR.

The 2013 second-rounder appeared in just five games for the Steelers this season, en route to recording three catches for 21 yards. Hunter is eligible for free agency this offseason, at which point he'll either look to re-sign with Pittsburgh or look for a depth wideout job elsewhere.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Exits with shoulder issue
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter injured his shoulder during Sunday's game against the Chargers and won't return to the contest, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hunter should've had a touchdown on a blown coverage in the second quarter, but he instead hurt his shoulder while diving for a badly overthrown pass. With rookie James Washington placed on the inactive list, Darrius Heyward-Bey will step in as Pittsburgh's No. 4 wide receiver for the rest of the night.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Won't play Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Sunday's contest against the Ravens, Teresa Varley of Steelers.com reports.

Hunter will be a healthy scratch Sunday while James Washington fills in at wide receiver behind Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Ryan Switzer.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: First two-catch game since 2016
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught two of his four targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 33-18 win over Cleveland.

Hunter how has just three catches for 21 yards in four games this season, with all three receptions coming against Cleveland. The Steelers don't face the Browns again this season, and fantasy owners don't need to roster Hunter either.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Surprise inactive in Week 2
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

The Steelers' decision to make Hunter a healthy inactive comes as a surprise after he played 51 of a total 84 offensive snaps in the team's Week 1 tie with the Browns, finishing with one reception for six yards on five targets. Hunter's unimpressive showing appears to have cost him the No. 3 wideout job, with rookie second-round pick James Washington ready to assume those duties in the home opener.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Logs 51 snaps in Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught one pass (five targets) for six yards in Sunday's 21-21 tie against the Browns.

Hunter saw significant playing time, with just 12 fewer snaps and three fewer targets than JuJu Smith-Schuster. However, that's where the comparison ends, as Smith-Schuster's 119 yards led all Pittsburgh receivers.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Set for Week 1 role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter is expected to be a part of three-wide sets Sunday at Cleveland, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Since he was selected in the second round of the 2013 draft, Hunter has bounced around four organizations in five seasons, never surpassing 30 catches, 500 yards or four touchdowns in a given year. Behind Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, Hunter also has to contend with rookie James Washington, but the veteran showed well in the preseason with a 7-132-1 line.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Scores in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught two of three targets for 37 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's preseason game against the Titans.

Starting alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster and second-round draft pick James Washington, Hunter caught a deep pass from Ben Roethlisberger for a 32-yard touchdown bomb to give Pittsburgh an early 7-0 lead. Antonio Brown (quad) sat this one out, and may see little-to-no action in the final preseason game, giving Hunter another opportunity to showcase his talents as he competes with Washington (abdomen) for the third wide receiver position.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Re-signs with Steelers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter signed a one-year contract with Pittsburgh on Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Hunter has bounced around a bit since being drafted by the Titans in 2013 and ultimately made his way to Pittsburgh for the 2017 season, recording just four receptions for 23 yards and one touchdown in seven games. He'll likely reinsert himself on the back end of the depth chart at receiver in 2018.

Justin Hunter: Visiting with Cowboys
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter is scheduled to visit with the Cowboys this week, Clarence Hill of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

A 2013 second-round pick, Hunter has played for three teams the past three seasons, unable to establish himself as anything more than an occasional deep/red-zone threat. He could make sense as a replacement for fellow free agent Brice Butler, who averaged 18.5 yards on 43 catches in his 36 games for Dallas the past three seasons. The Cowboys also are looking at Dontrelle Inman as an option to solidify their depth behind Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Scores first TD this season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught his only target for five yards and a touchdown in Monday's 34-6 win at Houston.

The catch was only his fourth this season, and his first since Week 8, although it resulted in his first touchdown since joining the Steelers. Even with Antonio Brown (calf) likely to miss the Week 17 game against the winless Browns, Hunter is not a viable fantasy option.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Set to sit Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

No Steelers' wideouts are nursing injuries right now, so Hunter likely wouldn't play many offensive snaps anyways. Hunter has just two receptions for 11 yards this season.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: One reception in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter had one catch for six yards in Sunday's 30-9 loss to Jacksonville.

Although he played just four offensive snaps, Hunter was targeted three times and has now caught a pass in each of the past two games. There just isn't enough volume for him to produce at the level needed to be fantasy relevant.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: See his first action of the season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 26-9 win against the Ravens.

After a costly fumble in Week 3, Eli Rogers was a healthy scratch against Baltimore, allowing Hunter to see his first offensive snaps of the season. That said, the Steelers' game plan centers around Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell, relegating most of the other offensive players to a supporting role. Although any one of them can experience a monster game on occasion, that hasn't been the case for Hunter since 2013, making it virtually impossible to insert him in fantasy lineups.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Suiting up Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (coach's decision) will be active for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' officials site reports.

Hunter is a depth wideout with special teams abilities, and head coach Mike Tomlin decided Week 4 would be a good time for him to make his Steelers' debut. To make room in the lineup, Eli Rogers (coach's decision) was listed as inactive. Rogers saw 11 targets through three games, so Hunter may have the same kind of opportunity Sunday, but he shouldn't be considered for fantasy lineups at this time.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Inactive for Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns, Teresa Varley of Steelers.com reports.

Hunter wasn't expected to be anything more than a depth option in the receiving corps if active, so the coach's decision to leave him inactive shouldn't have much fantasy implication. His next chance to play will be in Week 2 against the Vikings.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Catches long touchdown
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hunter caught three of six targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against Carolina.

Hunter's 58-yard touchdown might be the final blow for Sammie Coates, who failed to haul in his only target on the night. Hunter and Coates were believed to be competing for one spot at the bottom of the depth chart, with the winner perhaps getting occasional snaps to provide a deep threat. The battle could still come down to special teams contributions, which would clearly work in Coates' favor.

Steelers' Justin Hunter: Battling Coates for spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin implied that Hunter and Sammie Coates are competing for one roster spot, Dave Lolley of The Washington Observer-Reporter reports.

Coates was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday and immediately thrust into competition with Hunter, who drew praise from Ben Roethlisberger earlier in training camp. While the head start will help Hunter's case, Coates is probably still the favorite due to his ability to contribute on special teams. The winner of the battle doesn't figure to have a major role on offense early in the season.
