Abdul-Quddus (shoulder) will be waived by the Dolphins due to a failed physical, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
Abdul-Quddus suffered nerve damage in his neck and shoulder prior to being placed on injured reserve in December. At this point it is unclear if he'll ever play again. Neck injuries are not taken lightly and he'll have to make a full recovery in order for teams to look at signing the safety. Miami may need to prioritize the safety position in free agency and the draft now that the team will be without Abdul-Quddus, who was second with 78 tackles in 2016.
According to head coach Adam Gase, Abdul-Quddus' shoulder injury is more serious than originally thought, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
Abdul-Quddus was placed on injured reserve back in December, and since then has stated that he suffered a stretched nerve in his neck. Neck injuries are not taken lightly in the NFL, as Gase went on to state that the seventh-year safety has been in the rehab process and could continue to be for the next couple of months. Abdul-Quddus was second on the Dolphins with 78 tackles over 15 contests in 2016, so if he is forced to miss extended time, Miami may need to look at free agency or the upcoming draft to assess its needs in the back end of the secondary.
Abdul-Quddus (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
Abdul-Quddus suffered the shoulder injury in the Week 16 win over the Bills and was spotted in a sling in the locker room afterward, so the Dolphins quickly determined he wouldn't be available for the regular-season finale or the playoffs. Because Reshad Jones (shoulder) previously landed on IR as well, the Dolphins now will be without both of their starting safeties going forward. Abdul Quddus, who finishes the season with 77 tackles, two interceptions and one sack in 15 games, will be replaced on the 53-man roster by safety A.J. Hendy, who was signed from the practice squad in a corresponding move.
Abdul-Quddus (neck/shoulder) is unlikely to play Sunday versus New England, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
The Dolphins will play it safe with Abdul-Quddus as the game means very little to them. The Dolphins are a beat up team on defense and may choose to rest several regulars in this game.
Abdul-Quddus (ankle) is active for Saturday's game against the Dolphins.
Abdul-Quddus was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday, making his active status unsurprising. He'll start next to Michael Thomas once again.
Abdul-Quddus recorded a team-high 10 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Abdul-Quddus' 10 stops marked his first double-digit output of the current campaign, and he's now recorded at least seven tackles in three straight contests, bringing his season tally to 69 thus far.
Abdul-Quddus could start splitting snaps at free safety, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Coach Adam Gase is thinking about making several changes after the teams 1-3 start. One of those changes would have Abdul-Quddus and Michael Thomas share the load opposite Reshad Jones. If Abdul-Quddus was in your starting lineup, you may want to think about a replacement.
Abdul-Quddus says he is open to moving to free safety next season, Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post reports.
Abdul-Quddus took over at strong safety midway through the season last season with the Lions and turned in the best season of his five-year career. After signing with the Dolphins earlier in the week, the 26-year-old made it known that he was open to switching to free safety. Reshad Jones is the current starter at strong safety in Miami and is also coming off the best season of his career. "I know he had a great year last year so I'm comfortable with something different. I'm just open to playing whatever", Abdul-Quddus said in an interview on Friday.
Abdul-Quddus signed a three-year $12.75 million contract with Miami on Wednesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
This is a curious signing by Miami as Abdul-Quddus has only started sixteen games in his NFL career. He is expected to be more of a run defender for Miami rather than a true centerfielder.
Abdul-Quddus notched eight solo tackles in Sunday's win over the Packers.
Abdul-Quddus has been filling in at the safety position after the injury to James Ihedigbo, and he was all over the field on Sunday. Abdul-Quddus led the team in tackles which helped the Lions pull of the upset in Green Bay. He can provide solid IDP value as long as Ihedigbo is still sidelined.
Abdul-Quddus will enter the starting lineup Sunday against the Bears, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
With strong safety James Ihedigbo (quadriceps) unavailable, Abdul-Quddus will make his first start of the season. Ihedigbo's injury doesn't seem to be viewed as a long-term concern, making it unlikely that Abdul-Quddus will merit IDP attention during what figures to be a short stay in a starting role.
The Lions have re-signed safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, the team announced.
Abdul-Quddus played in all 16 games in 2014, totaling 32 tackles with two passes defended. He spent the previous three years with the Saints, where he recorded two interceptions.
The Lions have signed safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, formerly with the Saints, to a one-year deal worth just under $700,000.
The former Fordham student has 74 total tackles, nine passes defensed and a pair of interceptions to go with three forced fumbles over three years.
The Lions claimed safety Isa Abdul-Quddus off waivers from the Saints, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He played mainly on special teams last season, making 13 tackles.
The Saints put linebacker Parys Haralson on injured reserve. He tore a pectoral muscle in the playoff win in Philadelphia. To replace him, the Saints promoted linebacker Rufus Johnson from the practice squad.
New Orleans also waived safety Isa Abdul-Quddus and signed safety Jordan Pugh.
The Saints have ruled the following players as inactive for Saturday's Wild Card playoff game at Philadelphia: Pierre Thomas, Ryan Griffin, Terrence Frederick, Isa Abdul-Quddus, Keyunta Dawson, Tyrunn Walker and Nick Toon.
Only healthy scratches are included in the inactive list submitted by the Saints on Sunday. They are safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, running back Travaris Cadet, linebacker Keyunta Dawson, cornerback Terrence Frederick , quarterback Ryan Griffin, defensive end Tom Johnson and wideout Nick Toon.
The Saints inactive list for Week 12 against the Falcons Thursday is headlined by running back Darren Sproles, who is sidelined due to knee and ankle injuries.
The remainder of the inactive list includes: offensive lineman Jahri Evans; defensive backs Trevin Wade and Isa Abdul-Quddus; defensive lineman Tyrunn Walker (knee); quarterback Ryan Griffin; and wide receiver Nick Toon.
The Saints ruled the following players active for Week 6 against the Patriots despite nursing injuries: defensive back Isa Abdul-Quddus (ankle), defensive lineman Brodrick Bunkley (calf), defensive back Chris Carr (back), defensive lineman Glenn Foster (ankle), linebacker Ramon Humber (calf), defensive back Malcolm Jenkins (neck), defensive lineman Tom Johnson (hamstring), and defensive back Keenan Lewis (knee).
The Saints could be missing a number of contributors on the defensive side of the ball for Week 6 against the Patriots, based on Friday's injury report. After being limited in practice throughout the week, linebacker Ramon Humber (calf), defensive backs Malcolm Jenkins (neck) and Keenan Lewis (knee) and defensive lineman Brodrick Bunkley (calf) are all questionable for Sunday's game.
The team also has five players on the injury report who are expected to play through their injuries. The team has listed linebacker Martez Wilson (ankle), defensive ends Tom Johnson (hamstring) and Glenn Foster (ankle) and defensive bacsk Chris Carr (back) and Isa Abdul-Quddus(ankle) on the injury report as probable.
