Coach Ron Rivera indicated Monday that Bersin (shoulder) is expected to miss Week 3 of the exhibition season, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Bersin went down with a shoulder injury in Saturday's preseason loss to the Titans. The injury was not originally considered to be serious, and while there is nothing to indicate it is worse than expected, he will remain sidelined this week. It appears the Panthers are exercise caution with the 27-year-old, but he figures to be return to his depth receiver role sooner than later.
Bersin (shoulder) is considered to be day-to-day, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Any concern regarding Bersin's injury seems to have died down thanks to recent developments. Bersin's shoulder injury seems relatively minor and it looks like he'll be back to action within the coming days. The Panthers expect Bersin to function as a depth receiver for Cam Newton and company this season.
Bersin (shoulder) won't return to Saturday's preseason game against the Titans, David Newton of ESPN reports.
Bersin, showing no signs of the quad injury he suffered last week, came up favoring his shoulder after laying out for a catch Saturday. The nature of his injury isn't certain.
Bersin (quadriceps) is doubtful to return to Wednesday's preseason game against the Texans.
Bersin got tangled up on a deep pass down the left sideline. He was seen nursing his left thigh on the sideline afterwards. Expect an update on his status in the coming days.
Bersin will miss the rest of the offseason program after undergoing surgery on his left ankle, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports. "He had a spur removed from his ankle," head trainer Ryan Vermillion said. "We felt like this was the best time to do it. He'll miss minicamp, but he'll be fine and ready to go for training camp."
As OTAs proceeded, it was apparent that Bersin was dealing with discomfort in his left ankle, and the procedure was ordered up to make sure he'd be ready by the time training camp kicks off. A wide receiver in name, he fits in the majority of his snaps on special teams, where 113 of his 176 overall snaps were earned in 2016. If he's able to fend off the likes of Damiere Byrd and Keyarris Garrett during the preseason, Bersin would be in line for a similar role in the fall.
