Perry was waived by the Colts on Tuesday.
Perry was waived in order to make room for Clayton Geathers on the active roster. The 23-year-old linebacker could be a target for the Colts' practice squad should he clear waivers.

Perry reached an injury settlement with the Chargers, which is why he was able to be released. Once he's recovered from his injury he'll be eligible to sign with another team and play in 2017.

Given Perry was a fourth-round pick by the Chargers in 2016, it's a bit of a surprise to see the former Ohio State prospect wind up in free agency. However that likely suggests the gravity of Perry's head injury, which he suffered during the team's final preseason contest, could be worse than originally predicted. He should revert to injured reserve should he pass through waivers.
