Paxton Lynch: Unceremoniously let go
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch was waived by the Steelers on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

No surprise here as both Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges ultimately remained on the team's roster. It'll be interesting to see whether the Steelers opt to bring Lynch back onto their practice squad or roll with a three-QB active roster for 2020.

Steelers' Paxton Lynch: Serves as backup in finale
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch didn't play any snaps while serving as the Steelers' backup quarterback in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens.

Lynch was promoted from the practice squad Oct. 11 but didn't see the field during his two and a half months on the active roster, even with both Mason Rudolph (shoulder) and Devlin Hodges being demoted from starting roles at points. The 2016 first-round pick hasn't seen any NFL action since his second pro season and is unlikely to be much more than a training-camp body at quarterback if he sticks with Pittsburgh in 2020.

Steelers' Paxton Lynch: Bumps into No. 2 role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch will back up Devlin Hodges in Week 17's game against the Ravens, ESPN.com reports.

Hodges started this past Sunday's loss to the Jets but played poorly and was relieved by Mason Rudolph, who suffered a shoulder injury during the contest. Therefore, Hodges will get the nod again, but Lynch will be ready if the undrafted rookie struggles again. Lynch last played in two games for the Broncos in 2017, completing 67 percent of passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Steelers' Paxton Lynch: Set to serve as backup QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch was added to the Steelers' 53-man roster from the practice squad Friday.

The 2016 first-rounder spent the preseason with the Seahawks but was let go at September's roster deadline and joined the Steelers' practice squad Sept. 17. Lynch provides some additional depth at quarterback with Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) on injured reserve and Mason Rudolph dealing with a concussion. Lynch will serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Devlin Hodges this week against the Chargers with Rudolph sidelined.

Paxton Lynch: Lands on Steelers' practice squad
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch signed with Pittsburgh's practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Lynch was available after the Seahawks let him go Aug. 30. The former first-round pick will be able to provide the Steelers' quarterback room with some depth after it was announced Monday that Ben Roethlisberger would miss the remainder of the season with an elbow injury.

Paxton Lynch: Let go by Seattle
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Seahawks waived Lynch on Friday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Timesreports.

Condotta also notes that Seattle could try to keep Lynch on their practice squad for the 2019 season. Regardless, the 25-year-old will have to continue to wait for his shot at a bigger role under center. Lynch didn't see any regular-season action in 2018. The former first-round pick appeared in five games for Denver between 2016 and 2017, completing a total of 79 passes for 792 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Seahawks' Paxton Lynch: Sitting out against Chargers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Lynch (head) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Lynch is still feeling the effects of an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit dished out by Vikings cornerback Holton Hill on Sunday. With the former first-round pick battling Geno Smith for the backup job, the injury is certainly serious enough to hold him out. Smith will shoulder backup work behind Russell Wilson for Saturday's game with Lynch sidelined.

Seahawks' Paxton Lynch: Exits after taking cheap shot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch (head) had to exit Sunday's preseason matchup with the Vikings in the fourth quarter after taking an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit from Vikings cornerback Holton Hill, Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports.

Hill was ejected on the play, while Lynch was eventually able to walk to the sideline under his own power. Lynch had struggled prior to leaving the game, completing only six of 15 passes for 67 yards without a touchdown or turnover. His bid to beat out Geno Smith for the backup job behind Russell Wilson looks unlikely to succeed at this point.

Seahawks' Paxton Lynch: Shines in Seahawks debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch completed 11 of 15 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game versus the Broncos. He also ran four times for 38 yards and a score.

Lynch is positioned at No. 3 on Seattle's depth chart behind Russell Wilson and Geno Smith, but this game should be enough to lift him over Smith. He'll get the chance to take reps with the second team for the next week while Smith recovers from a minor surgery on his knee. While the Seahawks are still probably going to sign another quarterback to compete for the job, if Lynch can repeat the performance he put up against the Broncos he appears poised to take the job.

Seahawks' Paxton Lynch: Inks deal with Seattle
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Seahawks signed Lynch on Thursday, Sports Radio KJR reports.

The Broncos traded up to pluck Lynch in the first round of the 2016 draft, but he was stuck behind Trevor Siemian for most of his rookie season and both Siemian and Brock Osweiler in 2017. Lynch made five appearances (four starts) during those two years, completing 61.7 percent of his passes for 792 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. After Case Keenum arrived in Denver last offseason, Lynch was unable to keep a job by Week 1 and remained out of football in 2018. Upon joining the Seahawks, Lynch will battle Brett Hundley for slotting at quarterback behind Russell Wilson.

Paxton Lynch: Works out for Packers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch worked out for the Packers on Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

It's not clear if the Packers took a look at Lynch for any other reason than they wanted to evaluate him as a prospect, but it does at least lead to more speculation that the Packers are considering shutting down starter Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season. Lynch remains a free agent for now, but if the Packers do decide to call it a season for Rodgers, Lynch is presumably the favorite to take his place on the roster.

Paxton Lynch: Set to work out for Bills
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch is slated to work out for the Bills on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Broncos recently cut ties with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he figures to catch on elsewhere as a backup. The Bills have current starter Nathan Peterman, as well as 2018 first-rounder Josh Allen on hand, so if Lynch were to sign with Buffalo, he'd be the team's clear-cut No. 3 option. Alternatively, the team may just want to kick the tires on Lynch, with an eye toward having him on a short list of potential replacements should either Peterman or Allen suffer an injury.

Paxton Lynch: Not sticking with Denver
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch was cut by the Broncos on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.

Lynch survived cutdown day but didn't have a spot on the team after the Broncos claimed Kevin Hogan off waivers. The 2016 first-round pick may have a chance to latch on elsewhere as a developmental project.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Sticks as No. 3 QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch survived roster cuts as the Broncos' No. 3 quarterback, ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold reports.

Lynch still has a spot on the team but will be stuck behind Case Keenum and Chad Kelly on the depth chart. It won't come as a big surprise if the Broncos eventually release the 2016 first-round pick out of Memphis.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Slated to play second half of Thursday's preseason game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch is expected to play the entire second half of the Broncos' fourth preseason game Thursday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.

Lynch's demotion throughout the preseason has been widely publicized and the decision to play him behind Chad Kelly on Thursday suggests the Broncos are ready to move on from the former 2016 first-round pick. Playing well against third stringers in the second half of the fourth preseason game yields no upside for Lynch.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Falls to third-string QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch was overtaken by Chad Kelly as the Broncos' No. 2 quarterback, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Lynch was abysmal in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, completing only 6 of 11 passes for 24 yards and an interception. Kelly, on the other hand, looked much more impressive and totaled more yards on the ground (three carries for 38 yards) than Lynch had through the air. The 26th overall pick of the 2016 draft was the de facto backup quarterback after the Broncos signed Case Keenum in March but now finds himself practicing with the third-string offense.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Will compete with Chad Kelly
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch will enter training camp vying for the backup spot, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

Lynch has struggled to get off on the right footing in Denver, but that doesn't mean the team is throwing in the towel just yet. After passing on a signal caller in the draft, Denver intends to have Lynch battle Chad Kelly for the No. 2 quarterback spot behind Case Keenum. The 2016 first-rounder appeared in just two games last season.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Offense tailored to strengths
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Broncos plan to adjust their offensive scheme this season to complement the skill sets of both Lynch and new starter Case Keenum.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph proclaimed a similar sentiment last offseason, noting that the offense under his first year on the sideline would suit Lynch and Trevor Siemian, who has since been shipped to Minnesota. As for this year's quarterback duo, Keenum and Lynch deliver their best work when extending plays with their feet, so roll-out plays should become staples in Denver's offense under coordinator Bill Musgrave. At the same time, that scheme could also be adaptable for Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and other quarterbacks with decent mobility available near the top of the draft. Denver may be able to spin the Keenum signing and playbook adjustment as positives for Lynch's development, but the team could also be looking at developing another signal caller come April as the front office makes its way through the pro-day circuit.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Set in No. 2 role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broncos coach Vance Joseph said Friday that Lynch is the team's No. 2 quarterback, Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post reports.

Joseph merely is stating the obvious, after the Broncos signed Case Keenum to be their starter and traded Trevor Siemian (shoulder) to the Vikings. Given how bad he's looked in limited action since being selected 26th overall in the 2016 draft, Lynch ultimately may face competition for the backup job from 2017 seventh-round pick Chad Kelly (wrist) and/or a rookie from the upcoming draft. The Broncos don't seem especially likely to add another veteran signal-caller, as they still need to address weaknesses at right tackle, tight end and the No. 3 receiver spot.

Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Likely staying in Denver
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lynch likely will remain with the Broncos in 2018, but his presence on the roster won't stop the team from seeking an upgrade at quarterback, Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post reports.

Broncos general manager John Elway pointed out that the team hasn't really had a chance to evaluate Lynch, a 2016 first-round pick who has completed 79 of 128 passes (61.7 percent) for 792 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions in five career games. He's also taken 18 sacks and fumbled four times, displaying a glaring lack of awareness in the pocket. The Broncos might be fine with keeping Lynch around, but they presumably hope he'll be the clear backup behind a proven veteran starter. Trevor Siemian (shoulder) may be available for trade during the offseason.
