McGloin returns to his home state after spending his first four seasons with the Raiders, for whom he started seven of his 13 games played. Although the 27-year-old has featured in just six contests since his rookie campaign, McGloin offers the Eagles an experienced third option behind starting quarterback Carson Wentz and backup Nick Foles, cementing their depth at the position ahead of offseason activities.
McGloin (shoulder) was active for Saturday's wild-card loss to the Texans, but as expected he didn't play a snap with rookie quarterback Connor Cook at the helm.
McGloin finished the 2016 season with eight completions on 15 pass attempts for 50 yards and no interceptions or touchdowns in three games. McGloin's shoulder injury didn't allow for him to get the start at quarterback in the Raiders' brief playoff stint, but he figures to be fine moving forward into the offseason. He's set to test the market as an unrestricted free agent in 2017.
As originally expected, McGloin will be available Saturday behind Cook, with the
McGloin was able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week and still carries a questionable designation into the contest. The team signed Garret Gilbert to the practice squad earlier in the week in case McGloin could not go, but given his familiarity with the playbook, even a semi-hobbled McGloin offers a better option for the backup role.
McGloin (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Saturday's playoff game against the Texans.
McGloin's sore left shoulder caused him to be a limited participant during practice this week, but despite his questionable tag, the Raiders are optimistic he'll be able to suit up Saturday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports. That comes as good news, since besides the injured Derek Carr (leg), McGloin is the only quarterback other than Connor Cook on Oakland's current roster. While Cook has already been named the team's starter for Saturday's playoff tilt, having a proper backup in McGloin is certainly something the Raiders will hope to have in place.
