Ducre (ankle) was placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers Thursday.
Ducre may reach an injury settlement and become a free agent now. If he chooses this path, though, his lack of experience makes him destine for a practice squad job with long-shot hopes of stealing a special-teams role.
Ducre (ankle) was waived/injured by the Steelers on Wednesday, TribLive.com reports.
Ducre's last regular season action came during a stint with the Chargers in 2015. He went down with an ankle injury in the team's Week 2 preseason victory over the Falcons. The 25-year-old will presumably clear waivers and revert to the team's injured reserve.
Ducre suffered a left ankle injury in Sunday's preseason game against the Falcons, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
The cornerback went down with the injury after downing a punt in the third quarter of Sunday's victory. With Ducre fighting for a spot on the team's 53-man roster, the injury isn't exactly a timely one, and given that he was seen walking on crutches, the defensive back could be out for an extended time.
