Currie (knee) was waived with an injury settlement Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
Currie landed on injured reserve after injuring his knee in the Browns' preseason finale. Once healthy, he could find a spot on another team or practice squad.
Currie was forced out of the Browns final preseason game with an injury, which means he will presumably revert to their injured reserve should he clear waivers. He would then remain their for the rest of the season unless he and the team came to terms on an injury settlement.
Currie exited Thursday's preseason game against the Lions with a knee injury, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Currie led the Browns with six tackles (four solo) and a sack while playing 52 defensive snaps prior to leaving with the injury in the fourth quarter. The extent of the injury is not currently known.
Currie (concussion) returned to practice Sunday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Currie suffered a concussion nearly two weeks ago and was unable to suit up for Thursday's preseason matchup with the Giants. Currie -- who appeared in three games for the Browns in 2017 -- is battling for a roster spot.
Currie was absent from Friday's practice due to a concussion, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
It's unclear exactly when Currie suffered the concussion, but he will need to clear the league's protocol before he is able to return to the practice field.
