Jones-Quartey (ankle) was waived by the Bears on Saturday, Patrick Finley and Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun Times reports.
The move is relatively surprising, as Jones-Quartey started 12 games for the Bears last season. However, with a plethora of safety options the team has opted to go elsewhere. Although he did not make enough of an impression in Chicago's camp, the 24-year-old presumably has a good chance to be claimed off waivers be another team.
Jones-Quartey was revealed to be dealing with an ankle injury, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Jones-Quartey left Wednesday's practice early, but it wasn't clear why at first. He apparently rolled an ankle, but the severity of the injury isn't known.

Jones-Quartey posted seven stops in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, to give him 78 tackles and one interception on the season.
Jones-Quartey ended the season on a high note, as he recorded at least six tackles in four of his last five games, but on the year he averaged fewer than five stops per contest. He'll enter 2017 in the second of a three-year contract, but unless he can increase his ability to make big plays, he'll continue to be a marginal IDP option.
