Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Done for season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The knee injury Burr-Kirven suffered Saturday was a season-ending torn ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Burr-Kirven was subsequently placed on IR, per John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site. Burr-Kirven was in the midst of an outstanding camp and had been making a serious push for a starting role. He'll have to spend the entire season recovering, but the 2019 fifth-round pick should have an opportunity to reestablish himself as a contributor for the Seahawks in 2022.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Won't return Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Burr-Kirven (knee) won't return to Saturday's preseason contest against the Broncos, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Burr-Kirven has been a special-teams ace for the Seahawks during his first two years in the NFL, playing in all 16 games and registering eight tackles each season. The extent of the 23-year-old's injury is unknown, but if he is forced to miss time, Aaron Donkor will have an opportunity to carve out a backup role behind Jordyn Brooks.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Strong special-teams work in 2019
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Burr-Kirven made eight special-teams tackles over 16 regular-season games in 2019.

The Seahawks selected Burr-Kirven in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old was buried on the defensive depth chart, but he managed to make an impact by ranking second on the team behind rookie Ugo Amadi in special-teams stops. Burr-Kirven will vie for additional defensive reps in 2020 if the team doesn't retain Mychal Kendricks (knee), but he faces an uphill battle since rookie Cody Barton showed versatility and made four starts when Kendricks was sidelined.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Earns spot on roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Burr-Kirven made the Seahawks' 53-man roster, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.

The Seahawks picked Burr-Kirven in the fifth round of April's draft, and he had an outstanding preseason to make the initial roster. While he outplayed Shaquem Griffin (knee) through preseason, he's still behind Jadeveon Clowney, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks on the depth chart. Expect the Seahawks to give him situational work on defense while letting him maintain a role on special teams.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Activated from PUP list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Burr-Kirven (sports hernia) passed his physical and was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Burr-Kirven had sports hernia surgery in May, and his activation off the PUP list is right in line with the expected recovery timetable from that surgery. He'll be competing for a depth linebacker and special-teams role with the Seahawks.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Lands on PUP list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Burr-Kirven (sports hernia) was placed on Seattle's Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Because training camp hasn't started yet, Burr-Kirven can come off the PUP list any time between now and the end of preseason. The 21-year-old underwent sports hernia surgery in May, but got in some conditioning work earlier this offseason. Burr-Kirven is expected to be limited to a depth role on defense while contributing mostly on special teams when healthy this season.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Undergoes surgery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Burr-Kirven underwent sports hernia surgery six weeks ago, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Burr-Kirven has sat most of the offseason out due to the surgery but has began conditioning work at practice, per Bell. Typically for this type of injury, there's a 4-to-6-week recovery period, so the Washington product is right on schedule. The fifth-round pick in April's draft is expected to stick as a backup and special teams contributor after he made 176 tackles in 14 games for the Huskies last season.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Stays in Washington
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Seahawks selected Burr-Kirvin in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 142nd overall.

Burr-Kirven (6-foot, 230 pounds) is an undersized but highly productive linebacker with standout athleticism. He's also a Washington product, making the Seahawks match convenient. Burr-Kirven ran a 4.56-second 40 at the combine while adding a 121-inch broad jump, and 10.94 agility score, demonstrating clear sideline-to-sideline range. He didn't spend much time in opposing backfields at Washington (5.5 tackles for loss in 2018), but Burr-Kirven's 176 tackles in 14 games last year is an enormous total. He should stick as a backup and special teams contributor.
