Chris Clemons: Retiring after 12 seasons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Clemons has informed the Seahawks that he is planning to retire, Mike Garafolo of NFL.com reports.

Clemons is retiring after signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks in the spring. The 34-year-old defensive end only recorded 14 combined tackles in 16 games for the Jaguars in 2015, but enjoyed a long and prosperous NFL career, racking up 69 sacks in his 12 seasons. He had arguably the most productive stint in his career in Seattle, where he racked up 38 sacks in four seasons from 2010 to 2013.

Chris Clemons: Back with Seahawks
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Clemons has agreed to terms with the Seahawks.

Clemons will re-join the Seahawks after spending the past two years with the Jaguars, who he joined following Seattle's 2013 Super Bowl season. Although Clemons posted 36 tackles and eight sacks in his first season in Jacksonville, he managed just 14 tackles and three sacks last term, leading to his release from the team in a salary dump last month. In heading back to Seattle, Clemons figures to bolster the Seahawks' front-seven, but at 34 years old, he's no longer at the prime of his career that he was when initially joining the Seahawks in 2010.

Chris Clemons: Released by Jaguars
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Clemons was released by Jaguars on Thursday, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Clemons release saves the Jaguars $4 million in salary cap space. The 13-year veteran has played the last two season in Jacksonville. This past year he racked up 14 tackles and three sacks in 16 games. The 34-year-old will now look to find his way onto a roster in need of defensive line depth.

Chris Clemons doesn't report to Jaguars' camp
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

Jaguars defensive end Chris Clemons was a surprising no-show for the start of training camp on Thursday.

Clemons isn't holding out for a change to his contract, coach Gus Bradley said, per Jacksonville. com. The reasons for his absence are "clearly personal – all personal," Bradley said.

“This one is a little concerning," Bradley said. "My hope is we can work through this. I talked to him last night and again this morning. Hopefully we can come up with a decision to speed this up a little quicker. I don’t see this as a situation that’s extended. We’re sensitive toward it, but we also need some urgency.”

Jaguars DE Chris Clemons has no apologies for missing OTAs
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

One might have figured Jaguars defensive end Chris Clemons felt a bit sheepish arriving at minicamp Tuesday after being the lone no-show for voluntary workouts earlier in the offseason.

One might have figured wrong. Clemons felt no apologies were warranted. After all, it's just his proven stride.

"For the last ... four years I haven't been to an offseason so this is the way I prepare myself," he told the Florida Times-Union. "Gus [Bradley] and I both know that - we walk about that during the offseason every year. I did the same thing in Seattle."

Clemons has certainly done some work outside the facility. He has dropped 17 pounds, checking in at 248.

"My body feels better than it did last offseason," he said. "I played last year at 255, 260 pounds in some games and I felt my productivity went down. My thing this year was to come back lighter and leaner so I can go out and play better."

Jaguars DE Chris Clemons a no-show at OTAs
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Jaguars defensive end Chris Clemons was not present for Tuesday's OTA practice, according tot he Florida Times-Union

This is the second consecutive year that Clemons did not show for the first voluntary practice. He was also the only member of the Jaguars not to show for Tuesday's session — outside of Dante Fowler, who tore his ACL during rookie minicamp.

Clemons did let coach Gus Bradley know that he wouldn't attend. It's unlikely that Clemons will show for practices on Wednesday and Thursday either.

“I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘It’s OK for Chris Clemons (to not attend),’" Bradley said. "We want everybody here. And he knows that. It’s a choice he’s made. It’s voluntary. We’ll take advantage of the time getting a look at other guys and see how they’re doing."
