Cutler completed 19 of 33 pass attempts for 151 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons.
Cutler posted an underwhelming 4.6 yards per attempt on the day, but third-quarter touchdown passes to Kenny Stills and Jarvis Landry afforded him a palatable fantasy performance. He struggled in the first half, but a marked improvement after the break coincided with an impressive comeback to earn the victory. The veteran has totaled just 407 yards over the last three games, throwing one interception in each contest, though, and he's struggling mightily to make plays downfield. Solid contributions from the running game and the defense have Miami sitting at 3-2, but Cutler remains a lackluster fantasy option next week against the Jets.
Cutler is unlikely to be benched anytime soon, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports. "Jay's way down on the list of things going wrong," said Dolphins coach Adam Gase after Sunday's 16-10 win over the Titans.
Cutler has produced a meager 5.4 yards per pass attempt and thrown only three touchdowns, but the Dolphins are somehow sitting at 2-2 despite averaging 10.3 points per game. Gase was quick to point out that Cutler didn't have much of a chance in Sunday's win, as the offense was plagued by a combination of missed assignments, dropped passes and poor blocking. Making matters worse, leading receiver DeVante Parker injured his ankle in the first half and wasn't able to return. Things could get ugly for Cutler and the Dolphins in a Week 6 road game against the Falcons, but it nonetheless sounds as if the veteran quarterback will at least get a couple more weeks to sort things out. The Dolphins do have a competent backup in Matt Moore, who won two of his four starts (including playoffs) last season.
Cutler completed 12 of 26 passes for 92 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 16-10 win over Tennessee. He also scrambled twice for eight yards.
Cutler looked completely inept for the third consecutive week but was able to narrowly edge out Matt Cassel and the Titans thanks to a six-yard touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry with 10:33 to play. The veteran quarterback has led Miami to just 22 points over the past three weeks while throwing for only 476 yards in that stretch. He also lost wide receiver DeVante Parker to an ankle injury in this one, so even deep-league owners should be able to find better alternatives if Parker has to miss time.
Cutler is expected to start Sunday in Tennessee, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Cutler has had back to back poor performances versus two of the leagues supposed weaker defenses in the Jets and Saints so rumors have started to float that the team should start Matt Moore in his place. Coach Adam Gase shot down those rumors after the loss to New Orleans but another poor performance versus a Titans' defense that just got shredded by a rookie quarterback will make it difficult for Gase not to give serious consideration to removing Cutler from the starting role.
Cutler completed 20 of 28 passes for 164 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Saints in London. He also gained five yards on his sole rush and fumbled once.
Cutler's loose ball was recovered, but he was nowhere near as lucky on the opening drive of the contest, throwing an interception in the end zone to snuff out an early scoring opportunity. It was the second consecutive inefficient effort for Cutler and the Dolphins offense as a whole, with their struggles leading to a grand total of six points in the last two weeks. After a solid opener against the Chargers in which he was mistake-free and averaged 6.97 yards per attempt, Cutler has thrown a pick in the subsequent pair of games and averaged under 6.00 yards per throw in each contest. It appears that the more undesirable aspects of the veteran's game have surfaced quickly in his new digs, but he'll look to rebound in a home contest against the Titans in Week 5.
