Wheeler was released by the Cardinals on Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
This will be the third time that the Cardinals have elected to let go of Wheeler after they signed him on Wednesday. To go along with his release, the team has promoted Ricky Seals-Jones from the practice squad.
For those keeping track at home, this is Wheeler's second signing with the Cardinals in ten days -- his third since July. The roster opening came as a result of tight end Jim Dray being released Tuesday. Expect Wheeler to play in a special teams role with situational defensive snaps.
Wheeler was released Friday by the Cardinals, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Wheeler was released to open up a roster spot for tight end Jim Dray, as the Cardinals are currently dealing with a couple injuries at the tight end position. Wheeler had just re-signed with the Cardinals on Monday after releasing him for the first time prior to Week 1.
Wheeler dealt with a foot injury throughout training camp, but he still made it onto the 53-man roster. However, the team let him go prior to their Week 1 game against the Lions. They appear to have had second thoughts, as Wheeler is now back with the team. He figures to provide depth at linebacker.
