Giants' Brandon Marshall: Studying new offense
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Marshall has been in communication with quarterback Eli Manning since the Giants' offseason program ended in hopes of easing his transition into the team's offense, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports.

Marshall and Manning have been in touch through FaceTime, allowing the veteran receiver to clear up questions regarding things like timing and signals in New York's offense. The 33-year-old Marshall, who signed a two-year deal with the Giants this offseason, said he didn't start feeling comfortable in his new team's scheme until the last couple weeks of its offseason program. His continued work with Manning since then only figures to aid his acclimation process ahead of training camp. From there, Marshall will hope to provide a big-bodied target to complement the dynamic duo of Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard alongside him.

Giants' Brandon Marshall: Wants to play more two seasons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Marshall said he plans to play two more seasons,'s Jordan Raanan reports.

Released by the Jets early in the offseason, Marshall signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Giants on March 8. He celebrated his 33rd birthday a couple weeks later, making him one of the oldest projected starters at his position in the NFL. While coming off an inefficient, injury-plagued campaign in a miserable Jets offense, Marshall did look the part of a No. 1 wideout as recently as 2015, when he caught 109 of 174 targets for 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns. He won't get that kind of volume in an offense which also features Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard, but it is possible the 33-year-old will establish himself as Eli Manning's second-favorite option in what could be a high-powered passing attack. Though he plans to play out both seasons of his contract, Marshall could reevaluate after the season if he doesn't perform to his usual standards and/or the Giants win a Super Bowl. He's yet to make a playoff appearance in 11 NFL seasons.

Giants' Brandon Marshall: Signs with Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Marshall signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Giants Wednesday, Newsday reports.

Marshall would provide a massive target opposite Odell Beckham with second-year man Sterling Shepard often operating out of the slot. Marshall turns 33 in a couple weeks and is coming off a down year, but he dealt with poor quarterback play on the Jets. While Eli Manning is hardly a star, he's a significant upgrade over what the Jets trotted out last season.

Jets' Brandon Marshall: Released by Jets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Marshall was released by the Jets on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Jets continued their course in creating a younger roster with Marshall's release Thursday after releasing Nick Mangold and Darrelle Revis earlier in the offseason. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Marshall's release gives the team an additional $7.5 million in cap space heading into the new league year. Marshall had a disappointing 2016 campaign in New York, catching 59 of 128 targets for 788 yards and three touchdowns. That said, Marshall is just one year removed from a 1,502-yard season in which he had 14 scores. Despite being 33 when the season begins, Marshall still figures to garner interest from several clubs looking to add a big possession receiver and red zone threat. As it stands, New York's top three receivers are Eric Decker, Quincy Enunwa, and Robby Anderson; however, Marshall's release could lead to the front office looking to bolster the receiving corps in the draft.

Jets' Brandon Marshall: Regresses in second season with Jets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Marshall (hip/shoulder) caught 59 passes (on 128 targets) for 788 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games played this season.

Marshall's production dwarfed his 109/1,502/14 stat line from last season, contributing toward the Jets' significant regression. While it was always going to be difficult for the 32-year-old to match last year's output, the fact that Eric Decker (shoulder) played just three games this season should've benefited Marshall's fantasy stock. Although New York's quarterback play proved wildly unreliable, Marshall's seven drops didn't help the team's cause, and his 47.2 catch percentage ranked 143rd out of 144 qualifying players, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports. After frustrations from both he and the Jets' season boiled over toward the end of the campaign, it'll be interesting to monitor Marshall's situation as he enters the final year of his contract this offseason.
