Saints' Ted Ginn: Falls flat in Superdome debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ginn had three receptions on six targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 36-20 loss to the Patriots. He also had one punt return for 16 yards.

After a solid Week 1 performance, Ginn fell flat in his first game in the Superdome donning the gold and black. With Willie Snead still suspended, Ginn actually ceded playing time to Brandon Coleman, who saw 58 offensive snaps (89 percent) compared to Ginn's 43 snaps. Ginn did not always appear to be on the same page as quarterback Drew Brees, which may explain the reduced playing time. One play in particular stands out. Down 27-13 and driving late in the second quarter, Brees threw a deep ball on fourth down to Ginn, who had beaten his man by a few steps. The catchable pass was thrown to the outside shoulder, but Ginn failed to adjust to it and it fell incomplete, leaving Brees visibly frustrated. While Ginn will likely make some big plays as the season wears on and he gets on the same page with his new quarterback, the speedy receiver has been an inconsistent fantasy option throughout his career, and that trend appears likely to continue in New Orleans.

Saints' Ted Ginn: Solid in debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ginn caught four of five passes for 54 yards in Monday night's loss to the Vikings. He also gained five yards on one carry.

Ginn's Saints debut was solid albeit unspectacular, even with Willie Snead serving the first a three-game suspension. With Snead sidelined for another two games, Ginn could see an uptick in production, but Drew Brees' penchant for spreading the ball around -- he connected with seven different receivers on Monday -- makes Ginn a risky starting option in most settings, especially given the former Panthers' boom-or-bust tendencies.

Saints' Ted Ginn: Records trio of catches Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ginn brought in three of four receptions for 26 yards in Saturday's 13-0 preseason win over the Texans. He also rushed once for 24 yards and returned two punts for 16 yards.

Ginn was one of the busiest of the Saints pass catchers and also logged his customary special teams duty as a punt returner. The veteran speedster is slated for what should be a starting role in the Saints' pass-happy offense, which should afford him a solid chance of besting the 54 receptions and 752 yards he generated over 16 games with the Panthers last season.

Saints' Ted Ginn: Full practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ginn practiced in full Wednesday, after sitting out drills in advance of Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers, Herbie Teope of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

No injury was ever associated with Ginn's absence from practice and ultimately the Saints' most-recent exhibition, so rest may have been prescribed for the veteran wideout/returner. While he was signed to serve as a poor man's Brandin Cooks, Michael Thomas and Willie Snead will almost certainly be options A and B in the mind of Drew Brees, especially since Ginn has topped out at 49 yards per game in any of his 10 campaigns.

Saints' Ted Ginn: Listed ahead of Snead
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ginn is listed as a starter, ahead of both Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman, on the Saints' unofficial preseason depth chart, ESPN's Mike Triplett reports.

Healthy throughout the offseason program and first two weeks of training camp, Ginn seems to be making a good impression with his new team. It's quite possible he plays ahead of Snead in two-wide formations, as the third-year wideout almost exclusively lined up in the slot last year. Snead will still get plenty of snaps and is a clear favorite to finish second on the team in targets, but Ginn could make the split closer than expected.
