Arian Foster: Announces retirement
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports

Foster has decided to call it a career in the middle of his eighth season in the league. The 30-year-old has seen his production dip over the last year and a half while struggling to stay on the field. Foster released a statement declaring he is "walking away with peace," adding that his body no longer can "take the punishment this game asks for." Foster spent his first seven seasons with the Texans before landing with the Dolphins this past offseason. He was an undrafted rookie in 2009 but quickly rose to full-fledged superstardom by 2010 when he led the league in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, scrimmage yards and total touchdowns. Foster was a consistent force when healthy the next four years -- only slowed down by a slew of nagging lower-body injuries. He'll retire with 6,527 rushing yards, 2,346 receiving yards and 68 touchdowns in only 80 career games.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Quiet for a second straight week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster only had three rushes for five yards and one reception for four yards Sunday as the Dolphins defeated the Bill 28-25.

Foster may be quiet for the immediate future as well since he has clearly lost his starting job to Jay Ajayi. Foster was the starting running back to open the season but the hamstring injury opened the door for Ajayi and he seems to have slammed it shut behind him. The best chance for Foster to get on the field now could be as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Active for Week 7 versus Bills
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 7 tilt versus the Bills.

The veteran running back had practiced fully all week and will shed his injury designation for Sunday's Week 7 tilt. However, with Jay Ajayi's explosive 204-yard outing against the Steelers last Sunday, it's unclear how much work Foster will receive against a stingy Bills front seven.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Practices fully, but listed as questionable
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Despite being listed as a full practice participant all week, Foster (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Foster's full practice participation at practice suggests that he's likely to be active for Sunday's 1:00 ET tilt, but the questionable designation is an acknowledgment that the veteran back -- who missed time earlier this season -- is not yet 100 percent. Meanwhile, Jay Ajayi's 25-carry, 204-yard rushing effort in Week 6 has him atop the Dolphins' RB pecking order for now.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Not 100 percent yet
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster was a full participant once again in Thursday's practice, but he still isn't fully recovered from his groin strain, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Foster finished with five touches in his return from a three-week absence last Sunday versus the Steelers. While teammate Jay Ajayi's 204-yard explosion stole the spotlight, Foster still isn't ready for a full workload, with coach Adam Gase saying it's clear he's a step slower than usual following his injury. Foster's complete practice participation should help him return to full form, but Ajayi should continue to lead Miami's backfield attack Sunday versus Buffalo.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Practices fully
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.

Per the Palm Beach Post, Foster "asked to practice on Wednesday, which is not typical, because he wanted to push his injured hamstring and groin." As the veteran back attempts to distance himself from his latest round of aches and pains, the reality as Sunday's game against the Bills approaches is that Jay Ajayi's 25-carry, 204-yard rushing effort in Week 6 puts him atop the Dolphins' RB pecking order for now. In the meantime, Foster -- who rushed three times for three yards and added two catches for 12 yards on two targets this past Sunday against the Steelers -- profiles as a complementary option.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Still a bit limited by hammy
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster was still somewhat limited by his hamstring in Sunday's win over the Steelers, Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Foster returned from a three-week absence with a limited role off the bench behind Jay Ajayi, who shockingly led the team to victory behind 204 rushing yards and a pair of scores. Foster only had five touches for 15 yards, and while his limited contribution may have been related to the injury, Ajayi still made a convincing case to maintain the lead-back role. Foster thus figures to work as a complementary option in Week 7 against the Bills, potentially getting most of his snaps on passing downs.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Five touches in return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) rushed three times for three yards, and added two catches for 12 yards on two targets Sunday against the Steelers.

Foster was used sparingly in his return, and was mostly limited to watching as fellow Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi exploded for over 200 yards on the ground in a 30-15 win. The injury-prone veteran originally beat out Ajayi for the starting job in camp, but looks to be a clear second on the depth chart at this point. Don't expect that to change any time soon based on their play in this one.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Suits up Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

After initially going with a committee approach in Foster's absence, and then rolling largely with Jay Ajayi (13/42/1) in Week 5, we suspect that the 1-4 Dolphins would prefer to feature Foster as much as possible (spelled by Ajayi) on Sunday, so long as his hamstring holds up.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Expected to play Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is expected to play Sunday against the Steelers, NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports.

We'll confirm Foster's status in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but it looks like the veteran back is poised to return to the Dolphins' lineup following a three-game absence.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Warmups to determine availability
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) will go through warmups before Miami determines whether he will play Sunday against Pittsburgh, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

It sounds like Foster could be a risky option even if he's active for the game. However, we should know more after pregame warmups Sunday.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Listed as questionable for Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers after practicing in a limited fashion all week, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports.

Foster is one of eight Dolphins players listed as questionable for the game, and he's no lock to return to action this weekend. Fortunately for those considering the veteran back in Week 6 lineups, the Dolphins kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Practices again Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) practiced in a limited fashion once again Thursday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

We'll have to see how the Dolphins officially list Foster (either as questionable, or without an injury designation) for Sunday's game against the Steelers, but it's worth noting that coach Adam Gase encouragingly remarked of the running back's status Thursday that Foster "looks normal to me."

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Limted at practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.

While Foster, who hasn't played since Sept. 18, hopes to suit up Sunday against the Steelers, per the Miami Herald, the running back wants to see how his hamstring responds to a week of practice before signing off on his Week 6 status. "There's a certain amount of confidence you have to have in soft tissue injuries in order to explode like you want to explode," Foster noted. Prior to his injury setback, Foster had recorded 16 carries for 47 yards over his first two games in a Miami uniform.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: On track to return this week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is expected to increase his practice participation Wednesday, and barring a setback, is expected to play Sunday against the Steelers, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports.

After going with a committee approach initially in Foster's absence, and then turning largely to Jay Ajayi (13/42/1) in Week 5, we suspect that the 1-4 Dolphins would prefer to feature Foster in Week 6, health permitting. Whether he's up to the task will hopefully gain added clarity as the practice week rolls along.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Likely ready for Week 6 return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Miami's decision to release Isaiah Pead on Tuesday suggests Foster (hamstring) will return for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins mostly used a committee during Foster's three-game absence, but Jay Ajayi got most of the work in Sunday's 30-17 loss to the Titans. While Ajayi figures to stay involved to some extent, Foster should step back in as the lead back, with his role likely including most of the snaps on passing downs. Foster's practice participation will still be worth tracking leading into Sunday's matchup with a solid Pittsburgh run defense. The Steelers have allowed 4.1 yards per carry and just 77 rushing yards per game, often forcing opponents to go pass-heavy while playing from behind.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Inactive Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans.

With Foster out, Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Isaiah Pead are available to handle the team's Week 5 rushing duties. With coach Adam Gase having indicated a preference to pare things down to one or two featured backs this weekend, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald relays that Ajayi is expected to start at running back for the team Sunday.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Listed as doubtful this week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Foster (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Titans, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

That Foster was able to practice all week in a limited fashion offers hope that he can return to action in Week 6 against the Steelers, but the doubtful designation all but assures that he won't play Sunday, leaving the Dolphins' ground game this weekend in the hands of Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Isaiah Pead. Note that coach Adam Gase has indicated a preference to whittle things down to one or two featured backs in Week 5, with Ajayi perhaps representing the highest-percentage fantasy dart on that front.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Dolphins listed Foster (hamstring) as limited on Thursday's practice estimation, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins did not practice Thursday, but the submitted report would seem to indicate that Foster's return to a limited practice Wednesday did not result in any setbacks. That said, there's a solid chance that the team could play it safe and not rush the oft-injured Foster back to action this week, though what happens on the practice field Friday could tilt the equation on that front in either direction.

Dolphins' Arian Foster: Practices Wednesday, but Sunday status unsure
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Though Foster (hamstring/groin) practiced Wednesday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald suggests that "it's far from a sure thing" that the running back will play Sunday against the Titans.

For his part, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald suggests that a more likely scenario would involve Foster (who was officially limited Wednesday) returning to action on Oct. 16 against the Steelers. With the Dolphins not slated to practice Thursday due to the threat posed by Hurricane Matthew, Foster's next chance to practice won't arrive until Friday. In Foster's two-game absence, the Dolphins have used a committee approach (including Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Isaiah Pead) at running back, but coach Adam Gase has indicated a preference to whittle things down to one or two featured backs in Week 5.
