Ryan Clady: Hanging up cleats
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Clady (shoulder) retired Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The four-time Pro Bowl lineman spent most of his season in Denver, only playing one season with the Jets in 2016. The Jets then opted out of a $10 million option for Clady, making him an unrestricted free agent. His high price tag along with his shoulder injury made him a difficult sign before training camp, and this ultimately led to his decision to call it quits.

Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady suffered a torn ACL in practice on Wednesday and will probably miss the 2015 season, the team announced.

This is a crucial blow for the Broncos offense, which will rely a lot on its offensive line under Gary Kubiak. Options to replace Clady at left tackle are Michael Schofield or rookie Ty Sambrailo.

Sambrailo was taken in the second round of the 2015 draft and Schofield was a third-round pick in the 2014 draft.

Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady is still rehabbing from a Lisfranc foot injury he suffered Week 2. He was on crutches or in a boot for two months.

"It's a little longer off the feet, but it's not that bad of an injury," Clady told the team's website. "I feel like I should be able to come back at 100 percent and do well."

Clady said he's not running at full speed yet and does not have a timetable for returning to practice. "I'm just going to feel it out and ease my way back in," he said.

Report: Ryan Clady could miss rest of season
by Larry Hartstein |

Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady's foot injury could end his season, reports the Denver Post. That's a worst-case scenario.

At a minimum, Clady "will miss significant time because of a Lisfranc injury in the arch of his left foot," the paper said. The team is still gathering medical opinions about the injury.

Coach John Fox did not give reporters a timetable. "I'm no fortune teller or into tea leaves or any of that good stuff," Fox said. "I'm into the reporting nature of how we report the game. So right now it's exactly what we said — it's a left foot sprain — and when we know something (more) we'll let all the fortune tellers know."
