Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Vows to continue career
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (Achilles) indicated that he intends to play in 2019, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. "I'm definitely coming back," LaFell said in December. "I'm leaving on my own terms. I'm not leaving like this. I'll be back. I'll definitely be back."

LaFell ruptured the Achilles tendon in his left leg last November and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the league year. While the 32-year-old likely won't be healthy again until June or July given the 6-to-9-month recovery timeline that typically accompanies Achilles injuries, LaFell seems to have a decent shot of being ready to go by the time training camps begin.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Sent to IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (Achilles) was moved to injured reserve Monday, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

This move is simply a formality after LaFell was diagnosed with a season-ending Achilles rupture earlier Monday. With both Jordy Nelson (knee) and Martavis Bryant (knee) also banged up at the moment, the Raiders may need to rely heavily on tight end Jared Cook and receivers Seth Roberts and Marcell Ateman to fuel the passing game in the short term.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Dealing with torn Achilles' tendon
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell ruptured his Achilles' tendon in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Cardinals and is expected to require season-ending surgery, Scott Bair of NBC Sports California reports. The receiver is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis.

The report confirms the Raiders' initial fear that LaFell tore the tendon in his left leg, which limited the wideout to playing only 37 of the team's 68 offensive snaps prior to his departure. He still helped out those who used him in fantasy lineups with two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown on three targets, but assuming the MRI results match expectations, he'll be sidelined for the team's final six games. The 32-year-old's injury puts a battered Oakland receiving corps in even rougher shape, as Jordy Nelson (knee) and Martavis Bryant (knee) were both sidelined for the Week 11 victory and could be at risk of missing more game action.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Ruptured Achilles feared
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

There are fears that LaFell suffered a ruptured Achilles on Sunday against the Cardinals, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

If so, the Raiders' wideout corps -- already dealing with knee injuries to both Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant -- will be further taxed. The team's other options at the position are currently Seth Roberts, Marcell Ateman, Dwayne Harris (chest) and Saeed Blacknall, hardly a fantasy 'who's who'.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Suffers Achilles injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell was forced out of Sunday's game against the Cardinals with an Achilles injury.

Per Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, LaFell wasn't able to apply pressure onto his left leg, which isn't a good sign as it pertains to the wideout's Achilles. Prior to his exit, LaFell caught two of his three targets for 29 yards and a TD. With Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant already out Sunday, the Raiders' wideout corps is now down to Marcell Ateman, Seth Roberts, Dwayne Harris and Saeed Blacknall.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Could play major role against Arizona
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell could be headed for an increased role Week 11 against the Cardinals while fellow receivers Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant tend to knee injuries, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

LaFell has caught at least three passes in as many contests since the Raiders' Week 7 bye, but could solidify himself as the No. 1 option at receiver if Nelson (knee) is forced to miss some time. Additionally, Bryant appears to be prepared for an extended absence as the Raiders may need to bring in another pass catcher from the free-agent pool. LaFell's underwhelming competition at wide receiver includes Seth Roberts, Marcell Ateman and Dwayne Harris moving forward.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Tallies season high in receiving yards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell caught four of six passing attempts for 47 yards in Sunday's 20-6 loss to the Chargers.

The performance marks LaFell's third consecutive game with at least three catches. He has vaulted to the top of the Raiders' depth chart at wide receiver since their bye and could be on the verge of even more opportunities with Martavis Bryant suffering a PCL injury in the contest and Jordy Nelson also exiting for a time due to a quad issue. Nevertheless, with the Raiders struggling to sustain drives and a tough Week 11 matchup at Arizona up next, it is doubtful the 32-year-old becomes a dependable option in fantasy.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Leads receiving corps in snaps
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell caught all three of his targets for a total of 20 receiving yards in Thursday's 34-3 loss to the 49ers.

LaFell led the Raiders' receiving corps in snaps played, but failed to translate this feat into an efficient output as he averaged just 6.7 yards per catch. He's clearly risen above Martavis Bryant in the pecking order at wide receiver, so expect LaFell to draw the start once again Week 10 against the Chargers.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Runs ahead of Bryant in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell played 92 percent of snaps on offense in Sunday's 42-28 loss to Indianapolis, catching three of four targets for 39 yards and a touchdown.

LaFell unexpectedly replaced Amari Cooper in the starting lineup while Martavis Bryant played just seven snaps and failed to draw a single target. It's only fair to expect the same alignment during Thursday's game in San Francisco, though the Raiders would be wise to eventually take a closer look at Bryant in a regular role.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Full practice Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

LaFell was sidelined during the Raiders' season-opening loss to the Rams and limited in practice to begin the week due to a back issue. The veteran seems healthy heading into Sunday's matchup against the Broncos, but he stands to see limited offensive snaps even if he suits up.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Limited participant Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a back issue, Matt Schneidman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

LaFell was inactive for the Raiders' season-opening loss to the Rams in what was deemed a coach's decision. The wideout has since had more time to get up to speed with the Raiders' playbook after signing with the team Sept. 3, but it now appears that the back injury could impact his availability for the Week 2 matchup with the Broncos. If LaFell is cleared to make his season debut, he would likely be limited to a depth role and see minimal snaps on offense.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Won't play Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against the Rams.

LaFell -- who was signed on Sept. 3 -- will have to wait a little longer to make his Raiders debut. The former Bengals wideout is expected to battle with Seth Roberts for the team's No. 3 receiver job once he gets acclimated with the offense.

Raiders' Brandon LaFell: Signs with Raiders
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Raiders have signed LaFell, the team's official site reports.

With Martavis Bryant having been cut loose this past weekend, the Raiders were looking for added depth behind top wideouts Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson. Enter LaFell, who has a chance to supplant Seth Roberts as the team's No. 3 wideout once he gets up to speed with the Oakland offense. Neither of those two are high-upside fantasy options at this stage, but they do merit a look by those in deep leagues scrambling to replace Bryant.

Brandon LaFell: Cut loose by Cincinnati
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell will be granted his release by the Bengals, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

LaFell did earn his roster bonus in the spring, but a report emerged Wednesday that the veteran wideout wasn't necessarily a lock to make the 53-man roster. That apparently didn't sit well with LaFell, but it appears his release is something that has already been brewing behind the scenes. According to his agent Johnathan Feinsod, "We have been lobbying for his release for some time now and appreciate the Bengals granting our request." Now entering his age-31 season, LaFell will be free to catch on with an organization in need of receiver depth. He's been a plug-and-play fantasy option for most of his career, collecting 500 or more receiving yards in every season since 2011. Meanwhile, Cincinnati will move forward with A.J. Green, John Ross and Tyler Boyd atop the depth chart.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Not considered roster lock
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis hinted that LaFell isn't a lock to make the 53-man roster, Katherine Terrell of reports. "Brandon LaFell has done a nice job," Lewis said. "He feels the heat. That's a competitive group of wide receivers. So we can only keep so many of them. They're going to be competitive that way and that's a good thing."

Despite receiving a $1 million roster bonus this spring, LaFell could lose his job before Week 1 if the Bengals like what they see from their young wide receivers, a group that includes John Ross, Tyler Boyd and Josh Malone. Given that he's never been much of a factor on special teams, LaFell won't have much value to the Bengals if he tumbles to fourth or fifth on the depth chart at wide receiver. The 31-year-old is scheduled for a non-guaranteed $2.55 million base salary in the second season of a two-year contract.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Getting $1 million bonus
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell will collect a $1 million roster bonus, Katherine Terrell of reports.

The Bengals surely would like to see some combination of John Ross (shoulder), Tyler Boyd and Josh Malone step up and push LaFell back to fourth or fifth on the depth chart, but it nonetheless makes sense to keep the 31-year-old around as insurance, given that he carries a modest 2018 base salary of $2.55 million, per OverTheCap. The team likely would've released LaFell before Sunday if it planned to do so at all, as his $1 million roster bonus now is guaranteed. He caught 64 of 106 targets for 862 yards and six scores in his first season with the Bengals, but then dropped off to a 52-548-3 receiving line on 88 targets last year. LaFell has only missed nine games in eight NFL seasons, and he's played all 16 games four of the past five seasons.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Could eventually be cut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell may emerge as a candidate for release at some point this offseason, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

LaFell doesn't have guaranteed money remaining on the two-year contract he signed last offseason, but it also isn't an especially cumbersome deal. The Bengals still aren't quite sure what they have in the youthful trio of John Ross (shoulder), Tyler Boyd and Josh Malone. The team ideally would like to see its young wideouts step up and impress during the offseason, which in turn could make LaFell expendable before Week 1. The 31-year-old was inefficient with his opportunities in 2017, catching 52 of 88 targets for 548 yards (6.2 per target) and three touchdowns.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Out with a whimper
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell had two catches for 35 yards on four targets in the Bengals' Week 17 win over the Ravens. He finished the season with 52 catches for 548 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite the Bengals spending a first-round draft pick on a wide receiver (John Ross) this year and a second-round pick on Tyler Boyd last year, LaFell remained the Bengals' No. 2 option in the passing game, albeit with diminishing returns. His yards per reception dropped a full three yards, from 13.5 to 10.5, and his touchdowns were cut in half. If he sticks around next year, look for his reps to be cut in favor of Boyd and Ross.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Logs 45-yard grab
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell caught two of six targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings.

LaFell's team-leading receiving total came mostly courtesy of a 45-yard catch. Little went right for Cincinnati's offense besides that play, as starting quarterback Andy Dalton threw for only 113 yards and backup AJ McCarron added just 19 more after taking over in the fourth quarter.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Finds paydirt Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell caught three of six pass attempts for 24 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-7 loss to the Bears.

The 14-yard touchdown catch capped off the Bengals' only scoring drive of the day and gave them the lead briefly. But the Bears' defense smothered A.J. Green and LaFell the rest of the way, leaving the 31-year-old with his worst yardage total since Week 4. With Green likely to draw the attention of Xavier Rhodes in Week 15 at Minnesota, LaFell should see a few more open looks.
