It looks like CB Jerraud Powers will be the team's regular punt returner for the foreseeable future.

Powers is averaging 9.3 yards on four returns so far this season. He is also tied for the team lead in interceptions (1) with S Antoine Bethea.

Also, OT Tony Ugoh (toe) has been released from the Colts' injured reserve list. OT Joe Reitz, who had been released last week, has been signed to the Indianapolis practice squad.

--LB Gary Brackett (back) did not practice Wednesday. Brackett, however, is expected to start against the Broncos on Sunday.

--RB Joseph Addai (knee) did not take part in Wednesday's workout. Addai is expected to start Sunday at Denver.

--DE Dwight Freeney rested during Wednesday's workout. He is expected back in practice on Thursday and will start Sunday against the Broncos.

--WR Pierre Garcon (ankle) saw limited work Wednesday. Garcon should be able to play against Denver on Sunday.

--OT Charlie Johnson (foot) was held out of Wednesday's workout. Johnson is expected to start Sunday at Denver.

--C Jeff Saturday (knee) was limited during Wednesday's practice. Saturday should be able to play at Denver.

--S Jamie Silva, who underwent season-ending knee surgery on Aug. 30, says that his rehab is coming along well.

"It's definitely tough," Silva said. "You never want to be watching the game from the press box or sidelines. I plan to be ready for (2011) training camp."

The Colts want to control the clock while getting off to a quick start offensively on Sunday. While the running game showed improvement in the win over New York last week, Indianapolis will need a similar effort against the Broncos.

Defensively, the Colts can't let the Denver quarterback create plays on his own. Indianapolis has to get after the quarterback and force him into turning the ball over. The team's run defense will be tested by the Broncos once again.

Colts QB Peyton Manning vs. Broncos CBs Champ Bailey and Andre' Goodman -- Bailey (leg/ankle) and Goodman (thigh) were both hurt in last week's win over Seattle. If they can't play, Manning could wind up facing a pair of rookie cornerbacks -- Perrish Cox and Cassius Vaughn.

Broncos QB Kyle Orton vs. Colts DE Dwight Freeney -- Orton is a mobile quarterback and the Broncos like to move him around in the pocket. Freeney, who had a pair of sacks and two forced fumbles in last week's win over the Giants, admits that he enjoys playing in Denver with the Broncos' game-day atmosphere.

Colts RB Joseph Addai vs. Broncos S Brian Dawkins -- Addai is the Mr. Do-Everything for the Colts offense -- runner, pass blocker, and pass receiver. Dawkins plays a similar leadership role on the Denver defense.

LB Ramon Humber has undergone surgery for a fractured hand and will be out this week against Denver.

--WR Anthony Gonzalez continues rehabilitating an ankle injury and will be out this week. Gonzalez suffered a high right ankle sprain at Houston two weeks ago.

--S Bob Sanders (biceps) will be out this week. Sanders had surgery last week to repair a torn right biceps. He was hurt in the season opener at Houston two weeks ago. Sanders will be sidelined indefinitely.

--LB Clint Session (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Session was held out of last week's game with the Giants. His status for the Denver won't be known until Friday or Saturday.
