Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall had a busy Monday, capping off the day's transactions by re-signing Brayden Schenn to a multiyear deal.
Schenn wasn't really in danger of going anywhere as he was about to become a restricted free agent but the Flyers removed any and all doubt with the contract. That is at least until they think about more trades considering how signing a deal with the Flyers seems to be a ticket out of town (that's a joke, Flyers fans).

All in all, that's a pretty cheap deal from the Flyers' side of things but as we've seen before, it's the now-classic bridge deal and if Schenn continues to show an upward climb, he'll be due a raise in a short while.
It was good timing for a new contract for Schenn after he racked up 20 goals and 21 assists this season for the Flyers, both career highs for the 22-year-old, all while playing 82 games.
Schenn was joined by his brother Luke Schenn on the Flyers in a trade that sent James van Riemsdyk to Toronto.
The signing of Schenn comes after the Flyers traded Scott Hartnell to the Blue Jackets for R.J. Umberger and a fourth-round draft pick in 2015. It was the first big move of the Hextall era in Philly as he let Hartnell know his time was pretty much done in Philly, which led to Hartnell waiving his no-trade clause.
