Canadiens C Alex Galchenyuk to miss six weeks with broken hand
Canadiens second-year center Alex Galchenyuk suffered a broken hand in Monday night's win over Florida.
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that C Alex Galchenyuk will miss the next six weeks with a broken hand.
Galchenyuk, in his second season with the Candiens, broke his hand in the second period of Monday night’s 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers.
Galchenyuk had a chance to make the USA Olympic team as a backup or in case of an injury, but Galchenyuk's setback completely removes any possibility that he’ll compete in next month’s Winter Olympics.
The Canadiens (25-14-5) are second in the Atlantic Division to Boston with 55 points, and Galchenyuk was fourth on the team with 23 points.
