Daniel Briere a healthy scratch for Habs in Game 5, Prust back in
Daniel Briere and his playoff prowess, is out of the lineup for Game 5 for the Canadiens in Boston.
Daniel Briere is one of the more productive players in Stanley Cup playoffs history. He is just shy of being a point-per-game player in his playoff career and has scored enough big goals to last a lifetime.
Getting scratched this time of year isn't something that happens to Briere. But it's happening for Game 5 in Boston.
Briere is in his first season witht he Habs, finally making it back to Quebec to play his pro hockey. Even in a very reduced role he has a goal and three assists this postseason in eight games, something that has brought his per-game average below 1.00 with 113 points in 116 games.
However his effectiveness has definitely dipped against the Bruins. He doesn't have a point in the first four games of this series and has just two shots on goal, both in Game 1. He is barely averaging 10 minutes per game, dipping below that number a few times recently.
Somebody had to make room in the lineup for Prust to slot back in, though, and so Briere takes his postseason prowess with him to the press box.
