Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner out with a concussion
Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner is out with a concussion for the second time in two years.
Bad news for the Carolina Hurricanes as forward Jeff Skinner is now listed as day-to-day with a concussion. The 20-year-old Skinner is Carolina's second-leading goal-scorer and point-producer through the first 14 games of the season for the first-place Hurricanes.
Skinner was on the receiving end of a big hit (as seen in the video above) from Mark Fraser of the Toronto Maple Leafs last week and missed Carolina's game against Montreal, a 3-0 loss, on Monday.
The concern for Carolina has to be the fact that Skinner missed 16 games last season due to a concussion.
It's a big loss for the Hurricanes as Skinner is not only one of their best players, he's also one of the best young goal-scorers in the NHL with 58 goals in his first 159 games.
He's in the last year of his entry-level contract and signed a six-year, $34.5-million contract extension with the Hurricanes this summer that kicks in at the start of the 2013-14 season.
