Jonathan Quick to start quarters for USA after game off
After getting a game off, Jonathan Quick will go back in the American net in the quarterfinals against either Slovakia or the Czech Republic.
In case you needed any more confirmation, Jonathan Quick is the USA's goalie in these Olympics.
Quick started the first two games against Slovakia and Russia before getting a game off against Slovenia to wrap up pool play. Ryan Miller was just seconds away from recording a shutout before conceding a goal as the USA won the group.
However that was just one start and the crease will be turned back to Quick for the USA's quarterfinal game against either Slovakia or the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
Coach Dan Bylsma has seemed to favor stability in net in the short tournament format, provided at least that you're getting quality goaltending from your No. 1 guy. So far, Quick has given the US just that, giving up three goals in the two games he played as well as helping the US to win T.J. Oshie's shootout vs. Russia.
This is Quick's first experience backstopping USA in international competition but as we've seen in Los Angeles, he usually is at his best when the games are the biggest and we all know the Olympics are awfully big stage.
