There was once a time where two major North American sports leagues had teams that went by the “Oilers.” The NFL’s Houston Oilers haven’t been around since 1996 when they moved and were eventually renamed the Tennessee Titans. The Edmonton Oilers in the NHL are alive and well, however.

But as far as the NHL’s own online shop is concerned, the two franchises both still exist and are actually the same team.

I present to you the T-shirt for fans of the Houston Oilers of the National Hockey League. Um…. (via SportsLogos.net)

This mangled T-shirt can be yours for the low, low price of $26.99, down from $34.95! Shop.nhl.com touts that there are few left, so you better hurry!

To be fair, most of these preview photos are usually a little off from what you receive in the mail. This mistake probably was made in generating the preview image, not necessarily in the shirt production. It’s probable that the shirt you get actually will say Edmonton on it instead of Houston, but that might be worth a phone call to customer service if you're ordering. Heck, maybe you want it to say Houston.

I'm still trying to figure out how this one happened, though. The NFL Oilers have been gone nearly 20 years now (which is kind of hard to believe). Sure, Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon played in the CFL, but just because a guy goes to Canada doesn't mean it's easier to forget which Oilers he played for.

And despite the misprint, this T-shirt is not the most horrifying thing the NHL shop is selling. That would have to be these beauties:

I assure you, NHL Player Masks are real and there are a lot of them. Good luck with that whole sleeping thing now.
