The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call, with news and notes for the day's hockey action.

Morning buzz

The Pittsburgh Penguins haven't played their best hockey of the season over the past four games, which should probably be expected given that they're without Sidney Crosby and their top two defensemen, Kris Letang and Paul Martin . Then on Friday they lost James Neal , too. But they were able to get a 2-1 shootout win against the Rangers on Friday thanks almost entirely to the play of Marc-Andre Fleury . The video above shows him trying to make a save with his bare hand after losing his glove in the second period. That's probably not a good thing.

Joe Pavelski scored with less than three minutes to play on Friday night to give the San Jose Sharks their seventh win in a row, 2-1 over the Calgary Flames . The Sharks have climbed all the way up to the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference thanks to this streak. [Recap]
