NHL DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy hockey picks for February 9
SportsLine's Mike McClure, a DFS pro with almost $2 million in career winnings, gives optimal lineup advice.
The 2018-19 NHL season continues to power on with six games on the main slate Saturday evening for NHL DFS tournaments and cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings beginning at 7 p.m. ET. There are several highly-anticipated matchups such as Penguins vs. Lightning, Maple Leafs vs. Canadians and Sharks vs. Oilers, and it's a star-studded player pool highlighted by skaters such as Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, John Tavares, Alex Ovechkin and Nikita Kucherov, just to name a few. Before you make your NHL DFS picks, be sure to check out the optimal lineups and advice from Mike McClure.
McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He's also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best NHL DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They're a must-see for any NHL DFS player.
Earlier this week, McClure recommended Maple Leafs center John Tavares at $8,100 on FanDuel. The result? Tavares had a goal, an assist and four shots on goal against the Senators on Wednesday and the 31.2 points he scored was good for nearly a 4x return. Anybody who built their roster around him was well on the way to a profitable evening.
For Saturday's slate, McClure is banking on Flames wing Johnny Gaudreau at $8,100 on FanDuel and $7,100 on DraftKings. He's stacking him with defenseman Mark Giordano ($6,000 on FanDuel, $6,200 on DraftKings) as Calgary takes on a Vancouver squad that is giving up over three goals per game.
This NHL DFS strategy gives players plenty of exposure to what oddsmakers view as a high-scoring matchup. The Over-Under for total goals is set at 6.5, tied for the highest total of the evening, so look for both players to have a great chance to pile up points on Saturday.
McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to go off for big numbers because of a dream matchup, and he comes at a price that will leave plenty of salary cap flexibility. Picks like these could be the difference between winning your cash games and tournaments or going home with nothing.
