The rush of NHL players heading to Europe has slowed but hasn't stopped. Patrick Kane is on his way to Switzerland to join up with Tyler Seguin to play with EHC Biel.
Kane, who had said he was waiting to see how things were going in the labor talks, decided he was ready to commit to going overseas for the duration of the lockout. Based on the stance that he has taken before about waiting to see what happens, this will be viewed by many as a bad omen for the CBA talks.
It very well could be nothing but another NHL star going overseas to play until the lockout is settled. Perhaps Kane was just waiting for the right situation, and joining up with Seguin in Switzerland was it. Or maybe things are taking a turn for the worse. We won't really know for a while.
Here's what we do know: Kane is happy for the opportunity to play hockey.
Excited and thankful to join EHC Biel in the Swiss league. Looking forward to the experience

It makes Biel a pretty fun team to watch. Perhaps their young duo can rival the veteran pairing of Joe Thornton and Rick Nash with HC Davos in Switzerland. Off the ice? Well, Seguin and Kane might have some fun there, too. Let's just say their reputations precede them.
The release for EHC Biel, as translated by Google, offered a minor scouting report for Kane. In the general view, this is the report that they put forth (again, rough translation).
Patrick Kane's career, I have been following his appearance at the Junior U18 Championships in Sweden 2006th Opinions were divided: Can it despite its shortcomings concerning size and weight will be a dominant NHL player? Initially divided opinions differed after the World Cup undivided enthusiasm ultimately in No.1-overall pick in the NHL Draft culminated. Patrick Kane after the Draft immediately wrapped in the NHL. He has great skills and can play both wing and center as what the coach gives additional options. Off the ice, he is not a child of sadness.
Not a child of sadness ... I like that. Then this in his "weaknesses" department.
Patrick Kane has trouble in "Infight" with big, strong defenders, his physical drawbacks led so far in his career a little (too) often cause injury. In the game without disc Kane has significant shortcomings. His defensive position, he does not always taken seriously enough. Kevin Schlaepfer is required in this regard. And off the ice, he still enjoys (not) always enjoyed the reputation of the pattern professionals.
It goes without saying that EHC Biel knows of Kane's rather dubious history, something the young star has vowed to change.
We'll caution you not to read too much into Kane electing to go overseas instead of continuing to stay back with some of his Blackhawks teammates, but this one doesn't give us the warm and fuzzies about the labor talks.
