NHL lockout: ESPN3 to broadcast KHL games
ESPN3 will start broadcasting KHL games. Between Wednesday and Oct. 10, ESPN3 will feature five games, three of which will include Alex Ovechkin's Moscow Dynamo team.
On Tuesday, the Russian league announced that it has reached an agreement (full media release here) with ESPN3, an online streaming service, to broadcast games starting on Wednesday with Alex Ovechkin's Dynamo Moscow taking on Ak Bars.
The network will carry five games through Oct. 10. The schedule (as of now) is as follows:
Wednesday: Dynamo Moscow vs. Ak Bars;
Saturday: Lev vs SKA;
Sunday: Slovan vs Dynamo Moscow;
Monday: CSKA vs SKA;
Oct. 9: Lev vs Dynamo Moscow.
That's three games featuring Ovechkin and two featuring Ilya Kovalchuk's SKA team.
This isn't an unheard of move for ESPN3 as the network has shown some individual games over the past few years. The main network hasn't broadcast NHL games since before the last lockout.
