NHL rumors: Flyers talking to Oilers about Jordan Eberle
The Flyers are in desperate need of scoring and may be seeking it out in the form of Edmonton's Jordan Eberle, according to a report.
The Philadelphia Flyers are desperate for offense and they may test the trade markets to find a player to help fix that. Flyers brass are talking with the Edmonton Oilers about Jordan Eberle according to Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia.

That’s interesting on a number of fronts. First off, the Flyers are floundering in last place in the messy Metropolitan Division with a 4-10-1 record. Team captain Claude Giroux is goalless this season and with just 22 goals scored as a team this year, the Flyers rank last in the league in that category by a lot.
Eberle, meanwhile, has 13 points in 17 games so far, which is a little bit below his expected production, but solid nonetheless. He also had 76 points as a second-year NHLer and 37 in 48 games during last year’s short season. He has plenty of skill and would certainly provide a boost to the Flyers offense.
The Oilers meanwhile are in some serious need of help on the back end. The Flyers happen to have a lot of defensemen. Not all of them are great, mind you, but they have a surplus there.
Eberle is part of the Oilers' young core that includes Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall, Nail Yakupov and Justin Schultz. You’d expect those to be the four guys the team builds around, so if the Oilers are to deal the 23-year-old wing, they better be getting something really solid in return.
Things are getting desperate in Philadelphia, so it could take a drastic move to really change the team’s fortunes. Acquiring a young talent like Eberle would make quite a splash for the Flyers, you’d think.
