2:43 p.m.

1:52 p.m.
The Maple Leafs were rumored to be in discussions about Miikka Kiprusoff until he decided not to waive his no-trade clause. With that done, Dave Nonis told TSN he doesn't "see us doing anything" while also saying he's happy with this goaltending.
1:45 p.m.
There's been some talk about Drew Stafford being traded out of Buffalo, but not much mention of who was interested. That was until Bruce Garrioch said he's hearing that the Devils, Jets and Blue Jackets might be the interested teams.

If you wondered about the possibility of the Panthers trading defenseman Brian Campbell, the answer is no according to Ren Lavoie of RDS.

12:54 p.m.
ACTUAL TRADE ALERT: The Oilers made a depth move by acquiring Jerred Smithson from the Panthers for a fourth-round pick per Bob McKenzie. He is a good faceoff guy, a fourth-line center who kills penalties.
12:50 p.m.
You knew Lou Lamoriello wouldn't stay quiet for long. Nick Kypreos says that the Devils are looking for some scoring on the wing and might part with a first-round pick to get it.
12:49 p.m.
The Sabres are taking calls about anybody and Mike Schopp says they are considering offers for Drew Stafford and Steve Ott. Stafford's name has been frequently mentioned, as often by hopeful Sabres fans as much as other teams.
12:47 p.m.
This isn't really a rumor, but just a really interesting, cryptic tweet from the Senators: "Who knows, maybe something will happen!" The Sens aren't known for being creative on their Twitter feed, so it piqued my interest.
12:36 p.m.
ACTUAL TRADE ALERT: The first of the day involving NHL players (or an NHL player) ... That deal to send Scott Hannan to the Sharks from Nashville for a conditional sixth- or seventh-round pick is going through (from Darren Dreger).
12:29 p.m.
Sharks GM Doug Wilson said a short while ago that he was interested in adding a veteran defenseman and they are already close to. According to Pierre LeBrun, the Sharks are nearing a deal for Scott Hannan from the Predators for a mid-round pick.
12:26 p.m.
According to Andy Strickland, the Panthers have not asked veteran defenseman Filip Kuba to waive his no-trade clause. He has another season left on a deal that carries a $4 million cap hit.

12:09 p.m.
The Sharks have "sold" a few players this week but GM Doug Wilson told TSN that he might be interested in adding a veteran defenseman. We hear he has a few second-round picks he could dangle ...
12:00 p.m.
The Blues took a chance on Wade Redden after he was bought out by the Rangers but now he might be available per Bruce Garrioch. You'll recall the Blues added Jay Bouwmeester and Jordan Leopold earlier this week.
11:59 a.m.
The Red Wings interested in defensemen? Not according to Kevin Allen, they're pretty content with what they have now, especially with the recent addition of Danny DeKeyser.
11:53 a.m.
Will the Flames trade Miikka Kiprusoff or not? The answer seemed to be yes and the Leafs appeared interested but reports now say Kiprusoff won't waive his no-trade clause and might retire after this season.
11:35 a.m.
Don't look for the Kings to trade Jonathan Bernier. Luc Robitaille told L.A. Lariviere of TVA Sports that they would like to let him get a shot at being a No. 1 but they need him this season. Frankly, he's been better than Jonathan Quick.
11:26 a.m.
The Ben Bishop market seems to be six teams deep: Edmonton, Philadelphia, Calgary, Phoenix, Tampa Bay and Carolina, per Bruce Garrioch.
11:23 a.m.
Should you expect Thomas Vanek to be traded as the Sabres look toward the future? John Vogl reports that somebody close to Vanek doesn't expect it, so you probably shouldn't either.
11:21 a.m.
Here is a juicier rumor that popped up this morning: According to Arthur Staple of Newsday the Islanders are kicking the tires about Brandon Saad in Chicago. If the Blackhawks were to give up the young forward it would be pricey. Sound like a longshot? It definitely is and don't get excited. Can't blame the Isles for looking, though.
11:20 a.m.
With Mike Smith a free agent after this season and him uncertain about the Coyotes' future, he was rumored to perhaps be available but Pierre LeBrun reports they aren't likely to trade him and would still like to re-sign the goalie.
11:17 a.m.
It can't be a trade deadline without Flyers GM Paul Holmgren making noise. Per Tim Panaccio he has been very active on the phone, though there is no indication as to what he's trying to do.
11:15 a.m.
The Ducks have been awfully quiet but Eric Stephens reports they are working however they have no interest in overpaying or moving top draft picks.
10:53 a.m.
The latest on Roberto Luongo? He hasn't given the Canucks a list of teams for a trade according to L.A. Lariviere of TVA Sports, but at this point you have to assume the Canucks have a pretty good idea of what Luongo would like.
10:04 a.m.
A name that keeps coming up is Keith Yandle in Phoenix. He's locked in for a few more seasons at a fair cap hit so it should be no surprise that according to Nick Kypreos it would require some significant pieces.
10:00 a.m.
A team figuring to be quiet is the Edmonton Oilers. With their young nucleus and a balance of veterans, they seem pretty comfortable where they are ... on the edge of the playoffs. Though Darren Dreger says they could look for a depth forward if they do anything.
9:52 a.m.
The Winnipeg Jets have had very little chatter around them but Bruce Garrioch reports they are shopping Alex Burmistrov so obviously he could be traded today.
9:45 a.m.
Last week the Hurricanes waived Jussi Jokinen and he cleared. However GM Jim Rutherford will try to trade the veteran forward per Bruce Garrioch.
9:43 a.m.
David Clarkson of the Devils is a free agent after this season and according to Pierre LeBrun there have been no contract negotations. Still, that probably doesn't mean they'll trade him (my commentary).
9:40 a.m.
The Maple Leafs sent down Tim Connolly to the AHL earlier this season and today he will be a scratch. Chris Johnston reports that Dave Nonis will do all he can to trade Connolly.
9:16 a.m.
Here's a name that's new to the rumors this deadline week; Jason Chimera in Washington. Pierre LeBrun reports that the Caps forward, who has had a down season in scoring, could be traded.
9:14 a.m.
Colorado has been pretty quiet even though they are 30th in the league in points but Mark Spector reports he keeps hearing Ryan O'Byrne will be traded before the deadline. He lists the Wings and Rangers as possibilities.
9:12 a.m.
Minnesota would like to make an upgrade, perhaps with a top-six forward, but Michael Russo says they won't mortgage the future or risk the chemistry of the current bunch. Smart move.
9:10 a.m.
The Islanders haven't signed Mark Streit yet but Garth Snow confirmed to Darren Dreger what we all already knew; he has no intention of trading his captain.
9:08 a.m.
Montreal would like to add a little more grit up forward and Pierre LeBrun mentions they have a little interest in Raffi Torres in Phoenix.
9:06 a.m.
The Panthers have been pretty quiet despite having one of the worst records because they are either all injured or young and untouchable. But Dmitry Kulikov's name per Pierre LeBrun is floating out there, though he would be costly.
9:04 a.m.
The Senators have goaltenders galore so Ben Bishop could be on the move. Pierre LeBrun says right now the Sens want a second-round pick and a player/prospect in return.
9:01 a.m.
Don't think for one minute the Flames are done after moving two top players. Cory Sarich would waive his no-move clause if asked per Mark Spector.
9:00 a.m.
The Coyotes are taking calls on Derek Morris and Rostislav Klesla according to Chris Johnston. They could be a busy team as the day moves along.
