NHL trade rumors: Mike Cammalleri submits no-trade list to Flames
The wheels are in motion for the Calgary Flames to deal Mike Cammalleri as the veteran forward has reportedly submitted a seven-team no-trade list.
Mike Cammalleri might be a little under-the-radar as a quality rental at the trade deadline, but it looks like one way or another he’ll be moved by the Calgary Flames. According to the Calgary Sun, Cammalleri has submitted a seven-team no-trade list to the Flames.
Under the direction of team president Brian Burke, with no general manager in place yet, the Flames have until 3 p.m. to move the veteran forward, who has 14 goals this season. The 31-year-old center is at the end of a five-year, $30 million deal. He was reportedly offered another contract from the Flames, but as he remains unsigned, it seems as though Calgary has no choice but to deal him.
According to the Sun, the Flames could be seeking early-round draft picks in exchange for Cammalleri, who once scored 39 goals for the Flames in 2008-09, but hasn’t come close since.
Teams looking for a veteran rental to boost scoring depth would certainly do well to acquire Cammalleri as a cheaper alternative to marquee trade chips like Ryan Kesler, Thomas Vanek or Matt Moulson, more than likely.
