PHOTO: Brent Burns' hat trick celebration extends to his driveway
Brent Burns netted his first-career hat trick on Friday and didn't just have hats on the ice, they were waiting in his driveway at home, too.
It took Sharks forward Brent Burns until the 576th game of his NHL career but on Friday he netted his first career hat trick in San Jose's 6-3 win over St. Louis. Some of the local fans decided to make up for lost time.
After Burns scored his third goal in the third period, the traditional celebration was under way. The game was halted for a moment while fans threw their lids onto the ice and the ice crew scooped them up all while Burns sported his toothless grin by the bench. Pretty standard stuff.
That was until Burns got home to pull into his driveway which was littered ... with hats.
The tank was amazing today, will never forget that! Thanks for all the texts and hats..Even in the driveway at home! pic.twitter.com/OCK3TSafZe— Brent Burns (@Burnzie88) November 30, 2013
Now that's pretty awesome; hockey rules.
Burns, with his caveman looks and engaging attitude, is of course a popular player on a team that has become very popular in what used to be described as a non-hockey market in San Jose. It looks like Sharks hockey really has become a community event.
