PHOTO: Jimmy Howard has the Spirit of Detroit with new mask
Jimmy Howard has his mask for the upcoming season that just screams Detroit from front to back and especially the sides.
Howard's new design has a very distinct Detroit feel to it. From the front of the mask where the old English D is on the chin sprouting wings to the back where it proudly proclaims "Hockeytown" -- over an American flag -- next to Howard's all-too predictable hockey nickname of Howie and below the words "Let's roll!"
Then there is the real focal point of the mask, the sides. Each side features the same image; the famous Spirit of Detroit statue, a landmark in Detroit. It appears that it's laid over a silhouette skyline of the city. There's not a whole lot about it that doesn't say Detroit.
The mask was done by Bishop Designs. You can take a look at various stages of the mask's creation on their Facebook page.
