PHOTO: Panthers get caught with more than half the team on ice
The Panthers really got their money's worth for a too-many-men penalty on Sunday with 11 skaters on the ice at the same time.
The Florida Panthers were having a tough time against the Boston Bruins on Sunday so apparently they decided to try and sneak some extra players onto the ice in hopes the refs might not notice.
They went a little too far.
Yes, 11 guys -- check that, 12 guys when you account for Roberto Luongo -- counts for too many men on the ice. It was a rough sequence for the Panthers, who were desperate to get a line change after three straight icings. Too desperate.
Boston would score on the ensuing power play to pull even with the Panthers before pulling away for a 5-2 win.
