The sports memorabilia market has a new segment thanks to Marc Methot of the Ottawa Senators. The veteran defenseman was at a meet-and-greet Monday signing autographs and was presented with what is sure to be the most unique item he has ever signed.

Kevin Lee of Senators blog Bonk’s Mullet, had a tremendous idea. Knowing that fellow blogger @Sens_Adnan of SB Nation’s Silver Sevens had received a rather pointed response from Methot after somewhat criticizing the Sens blueliner, he apparently wanted to commemorate this moment.

So Lee printed out Methot’s response to Adnan’s tweet, which really was rather harmless compared to half the stuff athletes get tweeted at over the course of the season. Side note: Methot wasn’t even tagged in the tweet, so he had to go looking for it.

Lee then presented the printout to Methot and asked him to sign it for his fellow blogger. Methot did so happily, it appears.

It must be nice to break up the monotony of an autograph session with something completely wacky like that. Methot even left a personalized note poking fun at the tweet: “Adnan, Lace ‘em up bro!!”

It’s a clever idea from Lee and nice to see Methot have enough of a sense of humor to do it as well. And now Adnan has a nice memento from that time an NHL player didn’t like what he said on the internet.
