Rick Nash says he will return to Rangers lineup Tuesday night
Rick Nash will return to the Rangers' lineup for the first time since going down with a concussion Oct. 8.
Rick Nash says he will make his return to the New York Rangers lineup Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins. It will be Nash’s first game since Oct. 8 when he suffered a concussion on a high hit by Brad Stuart. He has been inching his way back, finally taking contact in practice last week.
According to Alain Vigneault, Nash was cleared to play Sunday and is in better physical condition than he was in training camp.
For the Rangers, getting back Nash at this point is a huge boost. The team has performed adequately in Nash’s absence, climbing back into third place in the Metropolitan Division after a rocky start.
Inserting a guy who averaged almost a point-per-game last season into the lineup is huge for a team that has really struggled to score consistently.
As always, there will be some concern about Nash throughout the season. He has a history of concussions and the Rangers have to hope not to lose him again. The good thing is that they were incredibly patient with his recovery from this latest injury.
It may take Nash a few games to get his legs back under him, but unquestionably, the Rangers are better with him in the lineup.
