Tyler Myers out for season with broken bone in leg
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season with a broken bone in his leg.
It's a disappointing end to what has been another disappointing season for the Sabres and Myers.
He had a dreadful start to the season that resulted in him being a healthy scratch and saw his offensive numbers drop once again. After bursting onto the NHL scene at age 19 in 2009-10 as the Calder Trophy winner with 48 points in 82 games, Myers has seen his production drop like a rock. In 39 games this season, he scored three goals to go with five assists. That put him on pace for just 17 points over an 82-game season, a mark that would have been by far the worst of his career.
Along with his struggles offensively, he also had his share of problems defensively. No other Sabres defenseman was on the ice for more goals against per 60 minutes than Myers.
Myers, 23, is in the first year of a seven-year contract that pays him an average annual salary of $5.5 million.
