VIDEO: Ben Smith scores three seconds into shift for Blackhawks
Blackhawks forward Ben Smith hopped on the ice and within three seconds had himself a goal. Timing is everything.
One of the things that makes the Chicago Blackhawks so tough to play is their depth. Even their bottom-six guys can score, and score very quickly.
Thanks to a perfectly timed line change as well as one heck of a stretch pass from Johnny Oduya through the middle of the ice that was lifted along by Brandon Bollig, Chicago's fourth line did just that.
Ben Smith had literally just hopped on the ice when the puck ended up on his stick right at the LA blue line. Two strides and a shot later, the Blackhawks had a 2-0 lead. Smith was on the ice for all of three seconds and he gave the Hawks an insurance goal
That's being economical with your minutes. Well done, Mr. Smith.
