Skating on ice can be tough enough, but trying to skate off the ice when you are missing a blade is next to impossible. The latest player to prove that was Tom Wilson of the Capitals.

The rookie, playing just the second game of his NHL career, came flying in for a check along the end boards. That was fine; it worked well. But on the check his skate hit the boards, and his blade went flying off. From there it was a long, stumbling trek back to the bench. Jason Chimera helped out with a big push for Wilson while simultaneously trying to stay in the play.

It was almost as if his team played a prank on the kid in his first NHL road game, but not quite. Just bad luck that led to a rather hilarious journey back to the bench. All that was missing was the Benny Hill soundtrack.

Mike Rupp can relate to the embarrassment.
