VIDEO: Cody Ceci's first NHL goal is OT game-winner for hometown Sens
Cody Ceci, Ottawa's 19-year-old homegrown defenseman, scored his first career goal in dramatic fashion -- the overtime game-winner against the Blues.
Cody Ceci grew up a big Senators fan in Ottawa. He spent almost all of his junior hockey career with the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Hockey League and was the 15th overall selection of the Senators in 2012. So there was a lot of build up to what he did Monday night.
In front of a home crowd, Ceci scored his first NHL goal in dramatic fashion. With a good wrist shot from the point, Ceci put home the overtime game-winner in a 3-2 victory one of the league’s best teams, the St. Louis Blues.
Just a great, mature play from a 19-year-old defenseman in only his third NHL game.
His reaction after scoring the goal couldn’t have been more perfect. Even though he’s only 19, that one was a long time coming. Here’s Ceci standing with Mike Fisher before a Sens game in 2003. What a great moment for the youngster.
